~Jake's Perspective~
All I saw was red and all I felt was hunger. Blood in the air awakening the monster inside of me throwing my consciousness to the side of my own mind my body moving on its own accord. I through its eyes I could barely make out an outline of a figure trying to push against me to get away but to no avail.
"Run," I said knowing it was Emily.
I pushed her away easily and heard her stumble. Guilt bubbled inside of me, but my body wasn't mine anymore. Despite my efforts to regain control, I stalked closer to the smell of blood seeing the outline of the boy. He was moving away starting to stand up to run from me, but I grabbed his arm yanking him closer. I heard his arm popping out of the socket easily. I felt something grab my arm and pulling on me.
"Jake stop come to your senses," a voice begged me quietly sounding so distant.
I'm trying. Stop! I thought weakly.
"Wake up! Wake-"
She didn't get to finish as I jerked my arm away from her and flung her away.
Emily please just run away I thought weakly came standing know I was hurting her.
I bit into his arm, the sweet taste of human blood heightening my senses making me feel more alive as his scream filled the air. In the distance, I faintly heard a thump and a yelp. Tyler was already dead when a stronger scent appeared that smelled sweeter, better and purer. Deep down I already knew what that was. I struggled harder with Emily's safety in mind.
No! No! Stop this! It's Emily! I thought hoping it would listen to me.
I moved to turn to face the scent and I was on top of it before it could get away, but it didn't even move. I started to regain control again able to see slowly. She didn't make a sound, she was slumped on the ground with her arm under her. I could see the blood was coming from her leg with the knife protruding from it.
No, Emily. No! I won't hurt you. I can't hurt you. You can't die! I thought anger building inside of me.
I regained control and ripped off my shirt pressing it around the blade of the knife not daring to take it out. I wrapped her arm around my neck and carried her putting pressure on the wound being as careful as possible. I began running towards the nearest city knowing it was her best chance at survival.
"Stay with me!" I growled running as fast as I could.
The trees whipped around me, but I knew the route by heart. I slowed down when I got to the road. Looking for anyone to stop knowing they would. A car stopped nearby almost immediately noticing me. I saw glass and lights on the top of it and Police written on the side of it. The man got out pretty quickly jogging over to me.
"Stay with me sweetheart," I whispered feeling the fear start to cripple me.
"What happened??" He said getting closer to us.
"Please. Don't die, Emily," I said feeling myself shaking.
I collapsed to my knees. A siren began blaring in the distance.
"I can't lose her," I whispered closing my eyes.
"Its okay sir, help is on the way. It is going to be okay. Sir, trust me," he said crouching down placing a hand on my shoulder.
The sirens got closer, but it seemed so slow.
"Sir, they are going to need to take her," he said.
I blinked seeing people in white coming out of a larger vehicle with a bed with them. They took Emily from me and one of them tried to help me stand up.
"Go with them," the guy from the first car said. "Come on son, we will get her treated."
They pushed me towards the vehicle and I got in noticing the odd machines. They pushed Emily inside on the bed and they began pulling samples from her wound putting needles and clips on her finger. I watched them doing many odd things working very quickly. A bag was hung with blood inside draining into her. We arrived somewhere and they all jumped out taking Emily and I tried to follow not wanting to leave, but a girl with brown and grey hair stopped me looking at my eyes sympathy in her brown eyes.
"Sir, I'm sorry you can't go with them. They'll take her to surgery, we will take care of her," she said putting her hands on my shoulders.
"Emily," I whispered shaking.
"Are you her guardian?" she asked sitting me down on a chair.
The room was full of chairs and people looking at me. The ground was shiny, the lights were bright and the walls were very white.
"Yes... Yes," I said unsure how to describe it.
The police officer came up to her whispering into her ear.
"Sarah, he's in clear shock, leave him be. We'll talk to him when he recovers," he whispered.
Stay alive Emily. Please stay alive. I need you to stay alive. I can't do this without you. You are my lifeline even if I no longer have a life. I thought to try to stay stable.
~Emily's Perspective~
I could hear beeping faintly in the distance and it was getting louder. I could hear breathing and sensed that the person was near me I wasn't sure how long I was out. I felt a warm hand on mine, but I felt cold. I could barely feel anything and everything felt weird like it was wrong.
"Hey, Emily," the voice of the person said. "They said you may be able to hear me. I am sorry, I am so sorry, but you'll be okay. I love you. I love you so much."
The voice sounded pained, weak and desperate. He squeezed my hand softly and felt something against my lips, but I started slipping falling asleep once more the only thing I heard was the beeping.
