Sarah looked at me a few times curiously.

"She doesn't like seeing me sit there with her. She doesn't like knowing I am doing nothing when I could do something if I wasn't waiting for her. So she doesn't want me to visit," I said sighing softly. "I know where she's coming from and she's always been that way. Always hated feeling like an inconvenience."

"When she feels better it'll be an amazing feeling though," she said nodding.

"Yes. I'm planning on a few dates for when she recovers," I said.

She giggled happily.

"You two are so cute together," she said as we left the elevator.

Once home I took a shower finding myself enjoying the showers more and more.

Better than a river. I thought.

The coming week pasted with very little going on. I kept the house clean, kept myself fed and spent my free time at the library noticing their computers were faster than the one in my room. The lady who runs the front was giving me the flirty eyes every day I walked in.

"You know you can rent these books out," she said softly.

"I do that with you, don't I?" I asked thinking about something.

I was a fast reader, but I read the books more than once something dad always taught us.

"When you read something you never fully get everything. Read it twice and you learn everything," he'd always say to us.

"How many can I check out at a time?" I asked curiously.

"Three," she said softly trying to get my eyes on her.

"Thanks," I said not looking at her trying to give her a hint that I wasn't interested.

The first time I checked out some books I found a line of numbers on a torn piece of paper in one with 'Call me' written on it. Rolling my eyes I tossed the little paper away.

Humans so stubborn. I thought bitterly.

I spent a lot of time reading enjoying it in the quietness of the night. Today I decided to reach on the couch since it was a change of scenery. The door opened and I looked up at Sarah entering smiling happily. It had been a week since I had visited Emily, so my smile didn't form as high as hers.

I greeted her from the couch as she walked in a soft click behind her moving towards the door from the hallway. The sound stopped when it reached the door.

"I brought you a friend," she said happily moving out of the way.

Another click and a footstep. Emily appeared at the door with holding onto a crutch putting her weight on it. I ran over to her hugging her tightly listening to her giggles as I picked her up and held her close to me. I pulled away happy to see her smiling face again.

"I am so glad to see you moving about," I said softly.

Sarah moved passed putting her purse down and a few bags sighing softly.

"I'll be checking on her a few times a day to make sure she is okay, a small quid pro quo for taking her home early. I must check her vitals, as unnecessary as it sounds, and her wound. Otherwise, she is free to be about," She said happily. "Show her the room and I will start dinner."

Excited and bubbly she walked to the kitchen taking a bag with her. I took Emily's hand showing her the room.

"This room is yours," I said opening the door.

I had cleaned the room several times so no dust coated anything. She looked around seemingly in awe at the colours of the wall. I could see a smile as she looked around.

"My room is next room over and the one down the hall is Sarah's," I said softly patting her hair softly. "There is a shower, but I am not sure we have the requirements for you to balance on. I wouldn't."

I stopped myself deciding not to freak her out.

"I can ask Sarah for you," I said not continuing my other train of thought.

She looked up at me curiously and I smiled hoping I hadn't disturbed her at all.

"There are some clean clothes in the closet, they've all been cleaned recently," I said. "I can look away so you can balance on me if you needed."

"I don't really need the crutch, it just stops me from overdoing it," she said looking away.

"Well we don't want to risk you overdoing it," I said frowning softly. "What happens if you want to swim or hike, but you accidentally delayed your progress?"

Her eyes lit up at the idea.

"So don't over do it," I said hugging her again. "I'm going to change though. These clothes probably smell like bleach or something. Sorry."

I chuckled softly looking at my old clothes I had when I came here. I kissed the top of her head and went to my own room changing into a black t-shirt and some jeans finding them more comfortable despite being more snug.

"Dinners ready!" A voice called from the other side of my door.

I left my room to go to the kitchen to help out in any way I could.

"What can I do to help?" I asked.

When I walked in I noticed Sarah eyeing my appearance.

"Black looks good on you sweetie. Go ahead and set the table for me then take a seat. I'm going to check Emily's vitals real quick and her wound," she said sighing softly.

"Thank you, Sarah," I said smiling at her.

Smiling hurrying out. I grabbed the required items and set the table before taking my seat.
