Chapter Eleven Odd Behaviors

~Jake's Perspective~

That night I had turned on the computer wanting to explore a little more. Tapping my finger on the desk I felt slightly annoyed at the speed the page was loading.

Humans seem way too impatient for this. I thought.

Closing my eyes I groaned getting more frustrated waiting. I heard a thud that had me standing up quickly. A small cry out had me out of my room and into Sarah's. She laid on the floor groaning lightly in nothing but her bra and underwear. I looked to the side trying not to look leaning over to pick her up moving her to the bed.

I felt her hand around my shoulders and on my chest as she looked up at me admiration in her eyes. I started to move, but she didn't let go of me.

"Oh Jake," she whispered softly. "You are so kind to me. Always so helpful."

"You've helped Emily and I a lot," I said uncomfortably.

Why won't she let me leave? I wondered.

"But you," she said whispering in my ear sensually.

Her hot breath sent shivers through my body making me more uncomfortable.

"You have helped me so much lately. You've been so respectful, cleaning the house and coming to my aid," she whispered softly.

"I would love to show you my appreciation," she said sexually moving her fingers to my cheek.

I pulled out of her grasp moving away from her.

"No its okay. You do so much for us. Thank you," I said jogging out of there.

Once in the safety of my room, I covered my face with my hands trying to not think about anything. I knew I had become excited, but I need to relax.

What is up with these humans in this era? I thought.

I moved to the bathroom splashing my face.

Think about hunting.

After a while, I could relax focusing my brain on hunting. I left my bathroom seeing the page I was loading finally loaded. Trying to take my mind off the weird way Sarah acted I tried to continue my research.

The next day I went with Sarah to the hospital not keen on making eye contact. However, she acted like nothing happened at all. Once in the safety of Emily's room did I finally relax again. She was sleeping or at least pretending to. I smiled and decided to let her play her game. Laying down on the couch I closed my eyes immediately feeling her looking at me. I stretched out feeling her watching me and almost feeling her thoughts.

Focus, Jake. I thought to try to clear my mind to see into hers.

I couldn't I wanted to kiss her too badly to focus on anything.

"Am I allowed to come over?" I asked.

I heard her gasp realizing I knew she had been awake and watching me.

"Yes," she said defeated.

I got up looking at her blushing features as I walked over sitting on the chair next to her. I looked at her leg curiously before looking at her again.

"It's feeling better," she said. "They even lessened my painkillers and tomorrow I will be starting therapy."

"That's fantastic news sweetheart," I said softly looking at her eyes noticing she wasn't looking at me.

Is she uncomfortable? Or is she uncomfortable with me being this close? Or is she uncomfortable knowing how I feel about her? I pondered.

Thinking I decided to try something. I took her hand in mine softly and heard the heart monitor speed up. Her cheeks started to become red again. Looking up at me she bit her lip before looking away.

Is she developing a crush on me? I thought a smile forming.

"You can tell me anything you know," I said softly staring at her eyes even if she wouldn't look at me.

"Its nothing, I just. I can't help noticing," she started gulping softly.

I waited patiently for her as she clenched and unclenched her hand her facing becoming redder with each second.

"Its okay to be attracted to me you know," I said softly putting her out of her misery loving her new shyness. 

She looked down too embarrassed to speak so I moved closer.

"You know I am attracted to you," I said softly into her ear.

I could feel the heat radiating off her, hearing her heart rate pounding and a shiver running down her body. I pulled away deciding to stop teasing her, but I couldn't help enjoying her timidness and embarrassment.

If this is how she'll be responding having no memory this could be a bit entertaining. I thought happily glad there was some silver lining.

We hung out for the day, but she didn't speak much. She asked me a question about growing up and I changed it slightly be normal. Instead of hunting monsters I had hunted deer for the village. She told me about her dreams and she continued asking me questions about how we grew up. It was a bit awkward reexplaining my inability to be around too much in the past to her. More awkward trying to figure out what to say to her.

"We can go out when you are better," I said breaking a long quiet.

She looked up at me confused her eyes wide.

"On a date, of course," I said casually. "I know just about everything about you and I think it would be a nice change for us. It'll allow you time to re-get to know me too."

"Okay," she said smiling at me. "I do have a difficult request."

I looked at her confused.

"I don't like this," she said gesturing to us. "This sucks for sure and I hate knowing you could be doing something, but you are sitting waiting for me."

"That's not," I started.

Pain in her eyes stopped me.

"Okay Emily," I said softly. "I won't visit if that's what you want."

"The next time you see me I will be better," she said looking down. "I think it'd be better that way."

"I look forward to it," I said understanding her worries.

The door opened and Sarah walked in to check on Emily.

"Hey kids," she said softly her purse on her arms.

I stood up smiling at Sarah. I looked at Emily checking that this is what she wanted. She nodded sadly.

"Alright let's go, Jake," she said.

She walked over to Emily and hugged her softly.

"I'll see you in the morning," she whispered softly as I waited by the door.

"I'll see you when you are better," I said. "Which will be soon."

"Yes. Soon," she said smiling.

Together Sarah and I left together leaving Emily alone again.
