As I said before when you started reading, nothing could stop you. That's when the thought started lingering. At first, it was vague and I did not know how to go about it. I wanted you and your sister and cousins to know how much I adored you. I wanted to tell you your own childhood stories because it was so special for me. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that a diary would be the best way to tell it, in that way I could go at my own pace the way I remembered it. I'm writing it to you because I know you will read it and might share it with the others.
Oh, Grandma, I feel so blessed and special, you will never know what this means to me. You were right about Kayla, she prepared the most delicious dishes and it was so attractive too. For instance, who would think about making a delicious dip sauce from plain yogurt, mustard, and honey, then serve it with beetroot, carrot, and celery juliennes? Not only did it taste delicious, but it looked so nice and healthy. The leg of lamb was so tender, it melted in our mouths.
The day turned out to be really special, it was really hot and we enjoyed the swimming pool. We played volleyball in the pool until we were so tired, we couldn't lift our hands anymore. It was when I sat down on a pool chair, that James made himself at home next to me. He asked me about my studies and how I could help children to read. I told him about the project that I was working on, it was in the form of a house and each layer of bricks represents words, then sentences until it become paragraphs.
He looked impressed and asked me if I would consider helping his sister. I answered that I would like to meet her first. Then he asked me to join him and his family for dinner the following Saturday, he seemed to be excited and said that I would like her. She is sixteen and really clever, but she has trouble with her reading and he thinks the teachers are just too busy to give personal attention. So, grandma, that is the reason why James was interested in me, it's more about my abilities than personal. I'm going to take the chance and try my best to help his sister if that can help me in my career, why not?
