Jason became impatient with me when he started school and had to read his first reading lesson five times to me. It all ended well for him when his teacher was really impressed with him the next day. I never heard anything about his reading after that, so I guess he learned that practice makes perfect and complied with that. He started reading the Bible to Grandpa and me before we go to bed at the times we slept over when we visited them. That was really sweet and he read it very well for his age. I love this grandson of mine and I'm so proud of him.
He once told me he loves to read from Luke because it shows him all the wonders what Jesus did and how badly he was treated by people despite His great love for them.
Hi Grandma, I've been busy with my exams last week and missed out on my regular talks with you. This might sound crazy but it helps me to sort my thoughts, decisions, and progress out when I put it into words. The same way that your diary inspires me when I read it, so I really missed it. A lot happened since our last talk, as I said I have written my first exams and I am excited to receive the results next week.
In the meantime, Inola was also anxious about her reading exams, which happened last week. I also encouraged her to reread the book that their teacher gave them several times. I told her when she starts feeling anxious during the exams that she should pretend that she is reading to James and me, instead of reading for the teacher and the whole classroom.
The best part of all of these was to see her smile. She quoted her teacher when I asked her how it went: "What a surprise? I just can't believe it. Well done! I never thought I would hear this in my whole life!" She said when her teacher said all these things, she started crying, it was just too much for her. She and James decided to thank me with a picnic and a fun afternoon at the pool instead of another lesson.
Well, that was one of my surprises. Inola loved the water and we had a lot of fun. I asked James about it and he explained to me that his parents build the pool to help her to exercise, that's why they always encourage her to use it. That's when he took my hand and he looked me in the eyes and that admiring expression took over his face as he said: "You can't even start to imagine what you did for my little sister and me, I love you, Beth." He must have been caught by surprise by my sharp inhale of breath because for a fleeting moment he seemed to be confused. Then he blurted it out: "will you be my girlfriend?"
I must have stared at him in surprise, he squeezed both of my hands, sending another electric shock through me as he said: "Please say yes, we will make an excellent team and you know that." Well, Grandma, I think I made a fool of myself the way I stuttered "yes". The next moment I was in his arms and the way he kissed me took my breath away. It was tender and passionate at the same time and I never before felt so much appreciated and wanted. My head was spinning and a thousand butterflies invaded my tummy.
Inola clapped her hands when James told her that we were an item and she hugged me and said: "I knew that we will become sisters one day.
