It's our fiftieth wedding anniversary and your mom and aunt went an extra mile to make it special. Grandpa and I felt so blessed, we had the attention of the whole family for more than two hours. When your mom asked him how did we manage to stay together for so long, he said: "We laughed together and we prayed together and that made our relationship strong."
When I thought about it, there was always some small joke coming from his side when the situation was tense and when there was sickness or problems he would always say: "Let's pray about it, God will show us the way." That is why I appreciate him so much.
I was so proud when my dad walked me into the church that day, fifty years ago, his message to us was: "Always keep God on your side. God will straighten your paths."
I will never forget your Grandpa's face when I entered the church, his eyes lit up and filled with a look of admiration and I have to pinch myself to realize that it was fifty years ago. I feel blessed and thankful to the Lord who guided and blessed us through the years with such a beautiful family.
Awe Grandma, I'm married to a wonderful man, it was an awesome day. My dad kissed me and whispered: "All I pray for, is that you will be happy." I whispered to him: "I will be." Then I met Jame's eyes, filled with admiration and love.
The Priest welcomed us and read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 "Charity suffereth long, and is kind, charity envieth not; charity vaunteth, not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth. Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things."
When James started his vowes with "The moment I met you, I knew I wanted to marry you," I felt my mouth went dry and my eyes teared up. I need to remember to put all these beautiful words in a nice scrapbook with our wedding photos so that we can always remember them.
After the wedding, he took me home and gave me only ten minutes to get ready for our honeymoon. Luckily my suitcase was packed, though he told me I need to take something warm because it might be colder than we thought it would be. He still wouldn't tell me where we were going.
I could not believe my eyes when I look down from the plane and saw the Remarkables, a mountain range of six-hundred kilometers stretching underneath us, decorated with a dusting of snow and beautiful emerald lakes embedded in it. The late November snow made it picture-perfect as it glistened in the late afternoon sun.
We are in Queenstown in a nice holiday flat overlooking the lake and I silently hope that we are going to visit the Milford sounds and maybe visit a farm by boat, an old steamboat taking passengers across the lake to the farm. I'm so excited and feel so blessed. While waiting for him to finish his shower, I just wanted to update the last chapter of our diary, thank you, Grandma.
