Alexander's POV

Today is the day, the first cabinet meeting is being held. We've had a few years to tell everyone in town about it. We eventually got Congress together, and now Jefferson and I get to explain and tell everyone what we want. Although I feel that Washington will listen to me more since I was his right-hand man during the war. I mean, who would listen to Jefferson?

I got up earlier than normal so I could get ready for the occasion. I looked over at (Y/N) and she was peacefully sleeping. I then looked over at the clock and she should be getting up anywhere in the next hour or so to make breakfast for the kids. The kids should still be asleep by the time I leave.

I still can't believe how fast they are growing up. Philip is almost ten years old! So that means (Y/N) and I are getting older than what we want to be. But even when we're old and grey I'll still be by her side.

I pull out my green coat and I start to button it up when (Y/N) started to move around. She sat up and rubbed her eyes and then looked at me with a tired look.

"Why are you up so early? You don't need to be the first one there, I'm sure they would wait for you."

I walked over and placed a kiss on her lips. "I know they would wait for me. I just want to be early to the first cabinet meeting."

She slowly swung her legs off the bed and pushed herself forward. We both walked out of the room and downstairs, while not making a noise. We didn't want the kids to wake up this early.

When we got downstairs she straightened my collar and wrapped her arms around my neck.

"I just want you to know I believe in you. But you better destroy Jefferson today in that meeting."

I chuckled and started to kiss her gently. After a minute I deepened the kiss and then I heard little footsteps coming towards us. I pulled away and I looked up to find Angie standing at the top of the stairs.

(Y/N) gave me a confused look but then I moved my eyes to look back up at Angie. She quickly turned around and smiled at our daughter.

"Oh okay, now I see."

Angie rushed down the stairs and jumped into my arms. She gave me a tight hug and wished me luck at the meeting. Angie then ran back upstairs and we both heard her close her door. We both laughed a little and then my carriage rolled up to the front of the house.

"I'll see you after the meeting is finished."

She kissed me again and when she pulled away she laid her head against my chest, "I love you."

I wrapped my arms around her small body and I started to pet her hair to comfort her.

"I love you too."

And with that, I walked out of the door and out to the carriage that was going to take me to the city.

The ride didn't last as long as I thought and soon enough I was already inside waiting for everyone else to arrive. While I was waiting I took the time to get my papers out of my bag, that I stored here at the office, and sat them down on the table in front of me.

I read through some of them and then thought about how (Y/N) took the time to help me organize these papers. If it wasn't for her I would be going crazy right now.

I kept reading over my papers until men started to fill the room. They all took their seats and then, Jefferson walked in. James Madison was behind him and they both took a seat at the table across from mine. They both shot glares at me and I fired back with an annoyed look.
