Your P.O.V.
I drew in a breath as I stepped forward. A pretty woman with long strawberry blond hair turned to face me and Coulson. "Phil, its so good to see you, and you must be y/n. I'm Pepper Potts, Mr. Stark's assistant." I smiled and nodded politely, trying to make a good first impression. "Mr. Stark will be here shortly."
"Maybe a little more shortly than you expected." Tony walked up behind Pepper. "Why is he here and who is she?"
"Tony, behave yourself." Pepper turned to scold him. "This is y/n and Agent Coulson is here with her."
I swallowed nervously as my fathers brown eyes turned to me.
Tony P.O.V.
"Who is she though?"
Pepper glared at me again. She really needs to stop doing that. She'll strain her eyes or something.
Thankfully, Agent spoke up before things got too tense. "Y/n is your daughter."
....what? What is he talking about? I don't have a daughter.
"What do you mean she's my daughter? I don't have a daughter."
Agent gave me a look and said "Do you remember Lucy (y/l/n)?"
When he said that name all the memories came rushing into my head at once. "Yeah, sort of."
"Well, she passed away very recently and left y/n's custody in your name."
"hmm..." I looked back at the girl. She was playing with her wavy dark brown hair that came halfway down her back. Long lashes hooded her deep blue eyes. Her soft looking pink lips were twisted in a nervous half smile. She looked just like me. Well, other than her eyes. She has her mom's eyes.
"So, maybe she is my daughter-" I held up a finger to quiet Agent's protests to the word maybe. "-but even if she is I can't take care of a kid."
"I'm 15! I'm not a kid!" Y/n sassed as she turned her fiery blue eyes on me .
"She's a good girl and she can take care of herself. She just needs a parent who will feed her and give her a place to stay." I turned to Agent Coulson, considering my options. I didn't want a kid but at the same time her sass made me curious. Barely, though.
Phil turned to y/n. "I'm going to take your father to a table to have him sign some paperwork and then I'll have to leave." He leaned in and whispered something but I couldn't hear him.
He beckoned to me and we walked a short distance away from Pepper and y/n to sign papers.
Your P.O.V.
Phil turned to me. "I'm going to take your father to a table to have him sign some paperwork and then I'll have to leave." He leaned in and whispered "if you ever need anything at all, don't hesitate to call me. I promised your mom I would take care of you and I'm a man of my word."
I smiled and nodded, holding back a few stray tears which were threatening to fall. "I will"
With that he turned, beckoned to my dad, and walked a bit out of the way.
"So, I guess after Tony signs the custody papers we'll show you your room" Pepper was looking at me intently as I watched the two men talk.
"Yeah I guess."
"Um...how do you know Agent Coulson?" Pepper seemed desperate to make conversation.
"He has been friends with my mom for a long time. Since I was little. He always talked to her about some Shield thingy. She always smiled and nodded, then he would come play with me."
Pepper just nodded. Phil and my dad walked over and it was time to say goodbye to Phil. I walked over to him and he leaned down a bit to give me a big hug. "I'm gonna miss you." I whispered, not wanting my dad to hear how pathetic I was. "Don't worry, I'll be around in a few days to check on you."
We pulled apart and I watched him go until he got in the elevator and was out of sight.
"Alright y/n. Lets grab your stuff and show you your room and then you can meet the other Avengers." Pepper headed toward my suitcase and bags. We all grabbed something and got onto the elevator.
Knowing I was about to meet some of my idols in the Avengers was enough to get rid of my fear of my new life for now. But that couldn't last forever. Nothing does.
