*victors POV*

Today is the short program. The last short program I will ever skate. I'm retiring after this and will take on fully being Yuris coach.

Yuri and I are going on a quick jog before heading to the arena for a quick practice session. We both are listening to music. I am listening to conventional weapons and Yuri probably to kpop. We're running a famous trail here in Moscow. It sorta visits some of the more famous areas so that Yuri will get a chance to see them in case we don't get enough time.

It's seven thirty and we're heading back to the arena and we should be there soon.

I'm about to go up, the first person. Not happy about it but there's nothing I could do about it. Yuri being lucky, got last. Not fair!

I kissed Yuri before exiting on the ice and starting my program.

I landed all my jumps perfectly except for one. It was a quad flip. But executed all the elements finely. It's almost a perfect score, shame it isn't. Yuri might actually beat me. Or yurio of course. I wouldn't be surprised if I got third.

After me came Yurio then Phichit, after him was Chris then Otabek and finally Yuri.

Yurio's program was interesting as well as Otabeks. They must have worked on it together. Phichits surprised me in a good way but Chris' not so much. I was expecting more but it was okay. I was still in first place and behind me was Phichit, then Yurio and Yuri. Otabek was in fifth place and Chris in last. Huh? Looks like the tables have turned Chris.

Yuri was now up. He came and kissed me before going up. "I love you yuri I whispered to him. "I love you too, so much."
He blushed and slid up to the centre.

I turned around for a second to grab some water. I could hear Yuris skates gliding and scraping the ice and he twisted and twirled.  I heared his skates glide off the ice and into the air and just before I turned around I heared a loud gasp from the audience.

My eyes shot open, my body turned around to face the ice, I saw a limp Yuri lying on the ground. "He must have landed badly" I thought to myself. "He's probably just unconscious from the fall." I thought to myself. But I was wrong. I ran out into the rink to the left corner, there was blood gushing from the left side of his head, seeping all over the glossy, wet ice.

I couldn't even feel it when the tears ran down my face. All I could feel was my heartbeat increasing as the minute passed. I placed two hands on Yuris neck, trying to find a pulse. There was one, a very faint one. This is just like the time he tried to kill himself. There's blood all over me but I don't care. The paramedics took Yuri into an ambulance which I rode along with. The entire time I was silent just praying. To a god. Any god that could hear me. Praying that the love of my life would be alright.

After an excruciating 3 hours of waiting, walking back and forth, trying to hope for the best, for Yuri to be alive and well, a doctor finally called my name.

"Mr Nikiforov?" I looked up to the doctor who called my name. He was tall with thick, brown hair. He made eye contact, and I stared into his cold, dejected eyes as he told me the love of my life was dead. I felt my heart physically fall into my stomach, shattering at impact. "w-what?" I stared at him. "I'm so sorry for your loss." He spoke, no feelings coming out of his voice whatsoever.

The words rang through my head like go vibrations bouncing off walls. "What caused it?" I asked, tears swelling in my eyes like an overflowing dam. "when he made contact with the ice, his neck snapped which we initially fixed but the fracture exceeded into his C1 and C2 vertebrae, severing the connection to his brain thus leading to a brain bleed and death." I stared at him in shock as backed away and my back made contact with cold, lonely wall behind me. Tears were flowing out of my eyes like a river, but no sound escaped my mouth as I slid down onto the unsympathetic tile floors.

"Yuri was dead."
