‘Who do you think you are?
Who do you think I am?
You only loved to see me breaking
You only want me cause I'm taken
You don't really want my heart
No, you just like to know you can
Still be the one who gets it breaking
You only want me when I'm taken’
My cell phone’s ringer does that if someone I don’t know calls me.
I looked at the caller ID on my phone.
I think I might have seen this number before; it kinda looked like Ryan’s number.
“Um, Cody, I have to get this call real fast, I’ll be back,” I say while picking up my phone and heading inside the bathroom.
Cody nodded his head and kept looking at his laptop.
I walked inside my bathroom, shut the door and answered the phone.
“Hello?” I asked.
“Hey Lindsay! It’s me Ryan!” says the guy.
Oh, great…
“Um hi?” I said being confused.
“How are you doing?!” he says nearly being happy, and I can tell that he is smirking over the phone.
“I’m just fine, why are you calling me? I told you to never to speak to me,” I say frowning.
I hear a girl’s giggle in the background that was high-pitched and you could clearly hear it…
“Who was that?!” I asked.
“Oh, that’s my sister, she’s laughing at something on YouTube,” he says.
“You don’t have a sister, I went to your house and you had an older brother, and I’m guessing that’s another girl you are with,” I say while my voice cracks.
“You don’t understand, I didn’t cheat on you! I-“
“Yeah right Ryan, like I would believe you again, I don’t want my heart broken by a jerk like you, I’m sorry, I’m just expressing my opinions, I don’t even get why we dated in the first place,” I explained, tears about to come out.
“Just don’t worry, I have news for you,” he replies quietly.
I sighed in confusion and frustration.
“I’m visiting Los Angeles!” says Ryan nearly yelling into my eardrum.
“Well that’s good, does it look like I care right now?” I asked.
“It sounds like it,” he replied. Before I could hang up he said a few more things.
“Wait! Can we just meet-“
I cut Ryan off before he could say anymore.
I hung up the phone and opened the door to the bathroom.
Cody was standing there with his ear pressed against the wall.
“Did you just hear everything I said?” I asked.
“Maybe, all I heard that your ex was coming to visit you,” Cody replied while opening his arms for a hug.
He hugged me.
Gosh, his hugs are like the best in the whole world, I’ve never had a guy care about what I’m going through and how tough I go through with guys.
Cody’s POV:
I have never seen Lindsay look hurt before…
I feel bad for her, what she has been through with the guys she has dated, maybe they all dumped her for someone else who’s better. I would never do that to someone who’s always been hurt, and heartbroken.
She has also told me that whenever she tries to find the right guy, they don’t seem to be interested in her.
Lindsay isn’t a weirdo, nor is she a mean girl at school. She’s the kind of girl who’s nice to everyone and helps pick up loose papers if someone drops them. Plus, she also told me that they guys would chase her around, but she would choose someone, and then end up being heartbroken.
She’s quiet, popular, and a straight A student, but I don’t understand why guys like Ryan would dump her for someone better.
Lindsay and I went downstairs to the living room to do something else, but she looked tired after crying.
I’ve never seen her cry either.
I bet she cried herself to sleep on the last day of school when she got dumped and had her heart broken into pieces.
“I’m really tired, I’m gonna take a nap on the couch, can you sing to me please?” she asked me as she lied down on the leather couch.
“Of course angel,” I reply smiling.
She took a pillow fluffed it a little, and lied down.
I sang to her ‘Not Just You’, she told me it was her favorite song that I’ve done.
Her eyes closed, and smiled while sleeping.
I took her hand and kissed it.
She’s asleep, that had to do it.
I grabbed a piece of notepaper, grabbed a pen and wrote a note to Mr. and Mrs. Watkins, knowing that I was here.
I taped it on the front door so that they could see it.
I went to the back door and left her house.
Lindsay’s POV:
I finally get to hear Cody’s voice in real life, not just his CD’s; I get to hear him serenade me to sleep.
I was tired after crying, my eyes were red and blotchy.
A nap would be great after crying and doing my chores.
I wonder if I will ever fall in love again, but with the right person this time, the one who trusts me, believes me, and doesn’t lie to my face all the time, or makes excuses to leave me to see another girl.
