After school, I walk towards the nursery in blue denim shorts and a khaki shirt.
Today seems sunnier than the rest of the week. The sun shining down brightly onto the earth, radiating warm heat, while a cool breeze travels around.
As it changes from spring to summer, more people make their way outside in flip flops and sunglasses eating ice-creams and drinking soda, unperturbed by the mosquitos and flies.
I usually spent summer working, which is why I loved it so much. The sun made many people tired and lazy, which left enough time for me to gain a lot of money, and fast. As well as families wanting to spend quality time together, so more vacancies for me. But this summer I was thinking to do something different.
Until a few weeks ago I hadn't planned to go to college, but after the accident I had a change of heart. As well, I saved up a lot of money so it would be enough to pay for my tuition fees, as well as for rent. So I applied to my colleges more than a few weeks late, but I did get accepted into a community college in New York, which was far away from this shitty town and my shitty family.
However I didn't quite know how to break the news to Daniel. Or Rachael.
Would she even care?
I wonder where she's going?
So many questions fill my head as I stroll into the multi-coloured building.
And there she is. Smiling and laughing with the kids. Looking like a fucking angel that fell from heaven. GOd's most blessed creation. Just fucking perfect.
She notices me as I push the glass doors open and the bell dings above my head.
But before I can wave Mrs Taylor abruptly steps in front of me, her smile stretching to her eyes.
"Good afternoon Mr. Gray", she gushes while maneuvering around the hive of children surrounding her.
"Call me Nate, Lianne", I reply while genuinely smiling at how happy she seems.
I catch Rachael's eye again and flash a smile at her, while opening my arms out to give Lily a hug as she runs towards me.
....
After all the kids are gone and everything is put away I walk over to Rachael.
"It's friday Princess, so what are we doing tonight?" I ask with a boyish grin while reaching for her bag that's hung on the wall and stretching my arm so she cannot reach it.
She giggles, while jumping to snatch it from my hand, as she grabs it she pushes me away.
"I'm pretty hungry. How about I treat you to some pizza?" I reply as I open the door for her.
"How can I refuse pizza", she teases.
We laugh and play around as we make our way to the nearest pizza shop. Luckily it's Joe's and I love Joe's pizza.
As we enter I pull out a chair for her.
"M'lady", I joke as I bow before her.
"I'm not a Princess you fool", she sniggers as I take my seat.
We look at the menu, as a waiter comes over.
"Welcome to Joe's Pizza, what would you like?" he says while forcefully smiling at us. He looks like he is in pain, but I ignore it and glance at Rachael, for her to go first.
She glances back at me, rests the menu on the table and blurts out.
"Would you like to do the monthly challenge?"
"The what?" I reply while quickly skimming through the menu.
Challenge of the month..... Eat half a metre, square, pepperoni pizza in less than an hour with only one cup of water.
"Yeah sure, can we have the monthly challenge?" I ask the waiter while grinning at Rachael.
This seems like it will be fun.
We make small talk until our pizza comes out. It takes a while to be made, but I look over to see how content Rachael looks and it's worth every moment.
"Is this one of the things on your bucket list?" I ask.
She nods while tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear, then she looks up at me and laughs. I laugh with her as the waiter places a timer on the table.
"You may begin now!" he exclaims.
.....
We finished the pizza with less than a minute to spare and honestly I don't think I've laughed so much in my life.
"Thank you for doing that with me, I will pay for it", Rachael says while getting her purse out.
"No, let me pay half at least", I reply.
I would pay for all but c'mon she's rich and I'm poor. Not just that but the challenge was much more expensive than I thought it would be and I didnt have enough money even if I wanted to pay for the whole meal.
We payed and stumbled out of the shop holding hands and moaning about how full we were, despite her not eating much of the pizza.
As we walk I realise that we ARE HOLDING HANDS.
A burning sensation shoots up my arm as she holds it. My heart starts to race and I am overwhelmed by her tantalising strawberry scent.
I watch her luscious sandy hair ripple down her back and sway calmly with every step she takes. Her small feet tap lightly against the ground, and I cannot help notice part of a tattoo peeking out from the lower part of her back.
Her delicate skin, pale and soft, begging for me to roam her body with my hands, to feel her curves against my finger tips.
I fight the groan arising in my throat as we walk slowly yet silently towards her house.
As we walk tension builds between us, and by the time we have reached her house, we both know what we want.
I can tell. The look in her eyes portrays passion and desperation, and she yearns for what I could give her. The release to end it all. To end whatever was building between us.
And I want it. I want her. All of her to be mine. To lay under me. To moan my name. Oh how I would die to hear her groan my name.
So when we enter her room, and her bold innocent eyes gaze into mine, I know exactly what I have to do.
