Angus MacGyver- "A Baby On The Way" Part 1

I wish to apologize, because she requested this MONTHS ago, and I found it in my drafts recently. I feel it is only right to do it justice, so I might fuck around and make it a multiple part thing.

Angus MacGyver loved his job, and he loved being on missions because he loved traveling and sightseeing, but for the love of all things good, Mac had a wife back home who was eight and a half months pregnant and every time he stepped foot out of LA, he was filled with so much anxiety he wanted to go back. 

There was more than one occasion where he had called Mattie and yelled at her, complaining that he couldn't finish the mission because he had bad feelings about Y/N.

He did vaguely remember getting a call from Y/N's doctor at three in the morning, telling him that she was having contractions and drove herself to the hospital. It was nothing major, but they were going to keep her overnight just in case. 

He would return after missions and go home after talking to Mattie at Phoenix to hear the "another job well-done speech" to check on Y/N.

He knocked on the door before entering; Y/N was sitting on the couch watching whatever show or soap opera she could find on television. She was sprawled out on the couch, hovering over a pint of ice cream. 

"Babe, I'm home!"

"Mac! I thought you were going to Jack's?"

"Nah, I wanted to come see you." 

She put the container on the coffee table and sat up to let Mac sit down. She laid her head on Mac's lap, "It's good to have you home."

Mac didn't reply, he just leaned his head back and closed his eyes.

January second, Phoenix had just left for Cuba to hunt a bomb maker. At three in the morning of January fourth, Mac got a call from Y/N's doctor.

"Hello?" 

"Mr. MacGyver?"

"Y-yeah, Doctor Elder, what's up?"

"She's fine before you say anything, but your wife was admitted into the hospital a few hours ago with contractions. She informed us that you were away on business, so I felt it was only necessary to call you. She is in the care of her regular nurses, so if you are to come back early, just know that she is well taken care of and safe, but will go into labor any day now.

Mac's next call was to Mattie, to tell her that he would not be assisting the team on the case, and told her the circumstances, "Mac, whatever it takes. Come home and be there for her.

So when the sun rose and the rooster crowed, quite literally, it was Jack's ringtone, Mac packed all of his belongings, and left for LA. He wasn't really sure what his plan was, but all he knew was that he was going to be spending the next couple of days on a hospital chair next to his wife.

When he walked into the hospital a mere few hours later, he walked into his wife's room to find it empty. In a panic, he walked up to the nurse's station on that floor and without thinking blurted out to the man sitting behind the counter, "uhh, my wife's missing."

He watched as chaos erupted around him, people on phones and computers, scrambling to find the missing woman before a nurse spoke up, "wait, what's her name?" 

"Y/N, her maiden name is L/N, married name MacGyver."

The woman looked around her computer screen and mumbling her name repeatedly, "Ah yes, she was wheeled out about a 40 minutes ago for an emergency C section, there were some complications with the baby's heart rate. Unfortunately, because of the circumstances, nobody except for licensed personal are allowed in the room, but if you wish to wait in her room, I will send someone in when they're done with the operation."

Mac sighed in relief, "Oh thank god. Thank you all so much."

"no problem sir."

With the pounding in his chest now starting to cease, he walked back into the hospital room and sat in the large recliner in the corner. What felt like a mere seconds later, the door swung open. He sat up in his chair, realizing he had fallen asleep, "Y/N!"

Her eyes shot over from the doctor she was having a conversation with to him, "Angus, oh my god!" she paused, "wait, you're supposed to be on a work trip. Why the hell are you here? Maddie is going to kill you."

"Maddie gave me permission to come back to see you."

The doctor chimed in, "I hate to break up this little thing, but I have to ask if you need anything else."

The MacGyvers looked at eachother, "no, I think we're okay, thank you so much."

The doctor left the room, "they should be coming in with the baby soon."

"he or she?"

"You'll have to wait and find out," his wife smirked."

"Dammit Y/N!" They had insisted on keeping it a surprise. As much as everyone wanted them to have a gender reveal party, the couple insisted on waiting until the day to find out whether they were going to bringing home a handful in pink, or one in blue. The fact that is wife already knew and refused to tell him the gender of the kid he contributed to, mind you, was eating away at him, until a nurse brought in a squirming bean not too long after. Y/N gestured to Mac, and the nurse handed him the blanket. He had already processed the child's face and had begun to tear up before he realized the color of the blanket. He knew in that moment that the baby girl he held in his arms would have him wrapped around her little finger; She would never have to worry a day in her life, and because her father was a goverment agent, with some of the most badass people on the planet, and that her mother, was the strongest, most independent person Mac knew that his kid would be just fine.

WOOOOWW long time now see. As I type this, it is 1 am and I am mere SECONDS away from hitting publish. I want to thank you all for sticking with me through this, my notifs have been blowing up lately with votes and comments. My county was just issued into a level of emergency which requires everyone to stay home. Getting back into writing for you all will hopefully motivate me to keep up with school work and keep me entertained.
