The Dark Night warriors reach the clearing within minutes.
We're at a field between the two pack lands to begin training with Blood Moon. It sits at the lower edge of both of our territories. And it's one of the biggest stretches of bare land I've ever seen. I'm surprised I didn't know it existed sooner, but I've spent most of my time deep in the heart of both pack lands, never really out this far.
I insisted on running, even though Demitri wanted to carry me here on his wolf's back. The run was nice, although I was a little sore. Thankfully, now that our bond is complete I heal at the pace an alpha does. Adrenaline rushes through my veins, hyping me up for both training, and seeing my family again.
I hear the rumble of wolf paws in the distance, and I face that direction to wait for my old pack to arrive. Demitri, now back in human form, comes and stands by my side as we distance ourselves from the rest of the pack, ready to meet my family to go over today's plan. Meanwhile, Samuel makes sure all of our warriors are contained in one area, far from where Blood Moon will enter. There's no telling how the two packs will react when they see each other - seeing as not too long ago they were prepared to rip each other apart.
I pay attention to the way Demitri's heart pounds in his chest, the same adrenaline coursing through his veins. Ever since last night, I've felt super connected to him. I can feel his emotions as they swirl in his chest, and we can hear each other's thoughts if we choose to open our connection. I can even feel his wolf there, pacing as we all wait.
Soon, the trees on the edge of the field begin rustling, and the ground begins shaking as wolves pour out of the forest.
First, I see Eli's dark brown wolf charge out, faster and stronger than the rest. Not to mention, bigger. He comes right up to us, stopping only ten feet away. Up next, is the future Beta and a few other warriors, who hang back a bit and watch us silently. I'm confused, looking for one particular figure, until I see a light brown blur shoot out of the trees. It runs directly towards us and doesn't slow down, or even stop beside Eli.
Suddenly, I'm knocked back as the light brown wolf slams into me. We grapple around on the ground for a bit, rolling over each other several feet away from the group. I laugh as I pet Myles' brown fur, having missed my best friend despite his greeting. The moment is short-lived; however, as he gets ripped off of me. I look up to see Eli holding him up by the back of his neck in human form. He yells at him for possibly hurting me, while Myles makes a wolfish frown like a child being scolded. Demitri is by my side in an instant, helping me up and glaring daggers at my best friend.
"If you ever do that again, I'll tear you limb from limb with my bare hands." He promises.
Myles whines apologetically, and I slip out of Demitri's grasp to hug him properly. He licks my face when I pull back, and Demitri growls lowly behind us.
I let my brotherly affection for Myles flow through our bond, letting him see that he's no threat. He sends me murderous thoughts back, all directed at my childhood friend. I laugh before going back to stand by his side once again, and place my hand in his.
Done scolding Myles, Eli lets him go and comes up to us. He looks at me fondly for a moment before pulling me in a bone-crushing hug.
"Eli...you're crushing me." I choke out. He's gotten even stronger in the short time I've been gone.
"Sorry kiddo," He says, pulling back. "I've just missed you."
I smile up at him. "I've missed you too."
"Where are mom and dad?" I ask, taking a quick scan of the field incase I missed them.
"They decided to stay back and handle things at the house. Dad keeps saying I need to go ahead and take over the Alpha title, but you know how he is." He explains.
