The chirping of birds, wind rustling leaves, the crackle of fire, the gurgling of a stream. Soft songs of strings, loud jazz, blasting rock and roll, calm love songs. The sound of windshield wipers, the splashing of feet or tires going over puddles, the start of an engine. These were the sounds of everyday life with you. With you beside me I heard everything better when I was beside you. You told me to listen to small sounds. The sounds that were natural to the world. You are all of these sounds in human form. Your smells, you smelt like the woods, damp earth, and fire embers. You sounded like the rushing of water, whether it was a calm stream or raging waterfall. The sound of a hawk's screeching or the faint rustling of leaves. Your voice could remind me of loud jazz from the 1930s or soft classical strings. When i hear your movements in the dark, your voice or anything. I heard everything. Every little sound, loud or quiet. I heard it. I heard your voice and your steps behind me. And i smiled at the sound of them.
