Caroline POV

So it's been around a year since Jeremy went off-grid. And now I was living in Dallas helping Alaric raise Lizzy and Josie. I was hoping that soon Tony would call or text to say Jeremy was using the debit card he was given in say Italy or somewhere. It's been 4 months since he last used it. And then I saw the news. I immediately picked up my phone and dialed Nat.

"Hey Nat I saw the news, what happened? Is everyone okay?" I Said into the phone as I prepared  bottles for the twins. They were only a few months old but god I could swear they were in their terrible 2s, or it's jut because there was 2 of them.

"Yeah everyone on the teams fine except Wanda she's shut herself off in her room, she thinks it's her fault" she said down the receiver as I screwed the lids into the bottles just as Lizzie started crying.

"Well give her the phone and I'll talk sense into her-hey Lizzie mommies here, oh god not you too Josie, Alaric!!" I Shouted him as I started to feed Lizzie but then Josie started to cry because Lizzie was crying and she woke her up and she realised she was hungry. I heard Nat chuckle down the phone as I stressed trying to coo Josie to quieten down as Alaric made his way upstairs. "Don't laugh at me, I'm trying my best here" I Said to Nat who's chuckling start to subside.

"Oh motherhood suites you, weird seeing you as something other than the college girl who managed to invade our lives" she laughed and I said a sarcastic 'haha' down the phone. "So how are you doing with everything? I mean I'm sure Wanda could use the break and come down to help if you need it and Steve would be more than happy too as well" she said in a stiff voice an I froze for a second just as I put Lizzies bottle down and started to burp her.

"Well why don't you come down as well if the others are? I mean you have a kid but you don't understand how hard it was to raise one, you wouldn't be laughing then huh?" I said down the phone and she laughed to try hide how much it meant to her, at least I think.

"I just got a text from Tony about what happened, so I think all of us are going to have to take a rein-check on that offer but sure when we have the time I'll be sure to come visit, but on an entirely different note, how are you holding up after Stefan and then Damon and obviously Elena?" She asked and I sighed, ugh great just what I wanted to avoid. Putting Lizzie into her crib as she started to sleep I managed to grab my phone to hold it to my ear properly since it was starting to slip.

"Oh no I'm fine not like the guy I'd started dating said he would come help me raise mine and Alaric's children and then just disappear without a trace not even a call or a text and then why would I care that Damon just gave up and completely  destroyed Bonnie who desperately needs him to be there for her when the women from the armoury is looking for her, I mea we all lost Elena and yeah he's made some mistakes in judgement but everything is fine I mean Bonnie might never see 2 of her best friends again now" I ranted down the phone to Nat who listened, I think, and hummed when she agreed with something.

"Yeah look you just need to focus on your girls and settling into Dallas and getting your dream job of bossing people around-" she said but I cut her off.

"After taking time off for maternity and then finding the perfect nanny because she can't be hot because that would be the reason Alaric chose her and she can't be too old she'll need to be able to keep up with children and she can't be too young because then she might not have the right experience" I Said only to stop when I heard Nat laughing, again!! "What's so funny? I mean I'm just trying to pick out qualities that will help benefit my children's development"

"You worry too much" she said and I made an offended sound because I can't let her know she has a slim chance of being right. "Look I have to go Tony and Rhodes are here and they aren't happy about what happened, we'll talk later" she said so we said our goodbyes and hung up.

"Do you get the feeling that something bugs about to happen?" Asked Alaric as he flopped onto the couch next to me. "I mean in recent weeks things have been quiet and good and I can't help but feel like it's just the calm before the storm, you know?" he said and I agreed. He turned the TV on and it was still playing the news about what happened in Lagos. "You think it has to do with that?" He asked and I nodded.

"I think it going to cause something that affects us all" I Said looking to Alaric who sighed before looking to the ceiling.

"Let's try not worry about it" he said beforenlooking to me. "So the question is, steak or Chinese takeaway for dinner?"

"Chinese obviously, I'll have my usual"
