Chapter 27: Bloodstream

Jeremy POV 

"Caroline?!" I said shocked as the blonde marched her way towards me. Slapping me when she reached me she then quickly pulled me into a hug. Shocked I stayed quiet as we hugged each other. What the hell was she doing here? Why was Care involved I this accords business? Who got her involved? 

"What are you doing here?" I asked her as I pushed her away but I held her biceps in my hands. Her face showed happiness and a glow that I'd never seen on her before, something happened something big and something good but what? 

"I saw the news and I called Tony, he asked me to come help" she said with a smile on her face. And then her phone started ringing and she sighed impatiently. "Just give me a minute I think it's Ric" she said before answering the phone. "Hey, What do you mean you think she's sick?, well take her to the doctor, well do you know where Bonnie is? Exactly look the only thing that makes them different is their magic otherwise they are regular babies so a regular baby doctor should be fine" she said into the phone with a different array of tones. When she hung up the phone she put it back into her pocket before sighing and turning to me with a smile. "Heyyy" 

"So what was that about?" I asked Caroline and we spent sometime catching up. I found out that she magically had Alarics twin daughters whom he conceived with someone called Jo who was a doctor before she was murdered at the alter by her twin brother who looked 22. I told her I'd lived mundanely working in construction. 

"Jer good to see you, what's your opinion Barnes or not? Because Steve has it in his head he didn't bomb the accords signing" Said Tony as he and Steve walked over interrupting mine and Caroline's conversation. Taking the offered tablet I watched the video a few times before answering. 

"I don't think it was him" I said thoughtfully as I get again watched the video. From the corner of my eye I could see Tony's shocked face and Caroline's slightly concerned one as well as the door to the office opening as Natasha walked in, it was weird even to think ain't calling her mom. "I mean there's just something off about his face it looks fake" I said pausing when Barnes was facing the camera. 

"Jer, a word?" Asked Natasha, no emotion in her voice. Looking at her expressionless face I raised an eyebrow only to get an eyebrow raised in return and then I stood handing Tony the tablet back before exiting the office we were in and walking down a corridor and stopping at the end of it, where there didn't seem to be many people. 

"What is it?" I asked her and she shifted, she was preparing herself for something that much was obvious but I didn't know what for. 

"Do you know who your biological father is?" She asked and I shook my head my brows furrowing in confusion and concern at the worry in her voice. "So what you said back there wasn't biased?" She asked and I shook my head again. 

"What's going on? What aren't you telling me?" I asked her annoyed at the lack of answers I was getting from her. 

"Barnes is your father" she replied quickly, so quick that I nearly didn't hear her. 

"I want to talk to him" I Said in a stone cold voice. Nat seemed unsure like she was going to preorder but I cut her off. "Even if you don't let me I'm talking to him one way or another" I Said before moving back down the hall. Getting into the room with the glass office I grabbed Ross but his suit jacket and pinned him to the glass wall of the office. "Did you know?" I asked him in a no non-sense tone. 

"Know what?" He asked with his hands raised as a sign of peace and that he was alright. "About Barnes and Romanoff?" He asked and I shoved him further to the wall making him nodd his head. "Yes it was leak when SHIELD fell most of the stuff on your file was taken down it was only what Tony had put onto the database that was left" he said and I dropped him. 

I backed away from him before heading for where I knew Barnes to be. Steve followed me as I walked, probably hoping to see Barnes as well, when something shifted. I don't know what it was but something, some instinct, made me pause and brace myself as we approached the room Barnes was in. And then a ghost appeared, Anna of all people someone I'd thought I'd shut out. 

"Jeremy run!! Please go he'll kill you!! He's not in his right mind" she pleaded before the door burst through. It was Barnes except it wasn't. 

It was the Winter Solider.
