Rihanna's P.O.V"What do you mean she's behind?" I cross my arms waiting for Mrs. Davis to clarify.
She went to one of the best highschools in Los Angelos.
"Rihanna she's not at her grade level ma-"
"So what are you suggesting, she get kept back?" I cut her off losing patience.
Mrs. Davis sighs, I can tell she's just as unhappy revealing this news as I am hearing it.
I clinch my jaw in frustration. What the fuck were they teaching the kids if nothing got through their heads.
One of the best highschools in LA. I shake my head disappointed at the fact that they failed my child.
"Robyn look at me" Mrs. Davis demands grabbing both my hands. I look at her waiting for her to speak.
"Zisel is a smart girl. She really is. It's funny cause she reminds me so much of you when you were her age" She smiles.
I hear that alot. I want to take it as a compliment but I can't, Zi should be nothing like me. Nicki is the better role model.
"Don't say that" I say just above a whisper.
Mrs. Davis frowns concerned. "And why not?" I bow my head looking away.
"You know how I was as a kid. Getting kicked out of schools, fighting skipping classes just basically being stupid and reckless...the last thing I want to hear is my daughter reflects me" I say a little angered.
"Robyn you know I didn't mean it like that. I guess what I'm trying to say is Zisel has many talents and she's very intelligent. She just needs motivation so that she can express herself and know that she is in fact smart and can do Anything she puts her mind to"
I nod. "Then why is she getting kept back?"
"This is not public school sweety, she can't necessarily get kept back because I'm her only teacher. I'll just have to review the things she missed in past grades to help her catch up to grade level expectations. Plus she's only struggling with math. Everything else she's proficient in"
"Well that's good. I don't know how Nicki will take this news though. She's very serious when it comes to school"
Mrs. Davis disputes "Surely Nicki will understand"
Ida's P.O.V
Tommy eyes the teacher making sure she doesn't get caught speaking.
When the teacher turns his back to us she speaks again.
"Something happened when we left. Don't mention you went to the party in school. I'll tell you afte-" She gets cut off.
"Ms. James I hope you're not speaking during silent hour" Tommy holds up her pencil.
"I was asking for a sharpener sir my bad, I didn't mean to disrupt anyone" He shakes his head before continuing on with what he was doing.
While I'm deep in thought wondering what Tommy was going to tell me.
Why can't we speak about the party?
Luckily this was our last period so after this class I'll know.
When we got home we went straight up to my room, I sat down on the bed as Tommy stood walking back in forth.
"Girl sit down you're stressing me out pacing like that" I pat a spot for her on my bed.
She rubs the back of her neck unease and disturbance crossing her features "What is it??" I question anxious to know.
"Ok so people are talking abo-"
"Wait close the door" She whispers. It's that serious?!
I get up to close it then sat back down looking intently at her as she spoke in a whisper tone.
"Imma just get straight to the point" I nod telling her to go on.
"There was a gun fight after we left and people are saying someone died and now the police are questioning everyone that went to the party" Stunned my heart drops.
Unable to speak I drift off into my own world as her words repeat over and over in my head.
There was a gun fight.
Someone died.
Police are questioning everyone.
"I know my exact reaction. JayC told me first hand, I'm just happy we left when we did"
No wonder everyone looked distressd at school. "Do you know why?" She takes a seat before replying.
"Something about a gang and the kid who died was messing with one of the member's girl"
"All this over a girl?!" I semi yelled.
Tommy forrows her brows. "I said the same thing. The gang mentality is beyond me, you take someone's life just because your girl decides to cheat?.." She frowns a hint of indignation in her voice.
"If the police come to my house I'm dead Tommy. My parents don't know I went..."
Tommy looks at me wide-eyed. "Wait are you serious??"
"It was supposed to be a secret between me and Aunty Jaiah" I sigh.
"Damn.." Tommy replies.
"Damn is right"
