2/3: Parental Differences

"Moooom! Pleaseee!"

Mirae, Who is now 13, has been bugging her mom all week to get her a cell phone, since everybody else in her class has one.

"Honey, I've told you before, no! I'm not letting you get sucked into those mind controlling screens! You're not getting one... and that's final!" Alice said calmly.

"Please?! My birthday is coming up soon, can I please have one?"

"Kim Mirae, I said no. Now go in your room and color like a normal kid!"

Her mom walked away, leaving behind a pouty teenage girl.

"Ha ha! You got into trouble!" Her eight year old brother taunted.

"Will you shut up?" She complained and he ran away.

She sat on the couch and started to color out of boredom, when her dad walked by.

"Hey beautiful, what's wrong?" He asked and sat next to her.

"Dad, I'm so sick of coloring and playing with toys, I'm 13 for god's sake!"

"Hmmm, why don't you get a cell phone to keep you company?"

"Mom says no." Jihyun said as he walked to his room with a box of cookies.

"Ugh." She groaned.

He kissed her cheek. "But Dad says yes. Don't worry baby, you'll have one soon."

She hugged her dad excitedly.

"Thank you so much Dad!"

"No problem."

One week later...

"That's all your presents!" Alice said as she cleaned up the wrapping paper from the living room.

"Except for one." Namjoon went into his room.

Alice was confused. "What? He didn't tell me he was giving you anything else..."

He walked out with something behind him.

"Ok, so I hate seeing you sad my little princess, and you are 14 now... so happy birthday!"

He took his hand away from his back and gave her a brand new LG G7 ThinQ.

"Oh my god! Thank you so much daddy, I love it!" He hugged her.

"Dad, why does she get a cell phone, I want one too!"

Meanwhile, her mother wasn't so happy.

"No, you are not young man!" Alice said.

"Aw."

She turned to her husband.

"Namjoon!" She said upset.

"What? She asked and she got!"

Her face showed she still wasn't amused.

"Namjoon. Bedroom. Now. Alone."

Unfortunately, he took it as... yeah, that.

"Of course darling. Mirae, Jihyun, Go to Whatever you want... me and mom have... business to take care of..."

They walked into their room and Alice shut the door.

She then was pinned to the wall by Namjoon.

"You missed daddy babygirl?"

However, since she was still upset at him, which made her knee him where the sun don't shine.

He groaned in pain. "What was that for?!"

"That's not what I meant you pabo!"

"Hmph. You could have been more specific you know."

"Don't act like that. Why did you give her a phone?!"

"Um, because she asked for it?"

"Namjoon, I told her no!"

"So? She's a big girl, she knows her limits!"

"That's not the point! You knew I didn't want her having that and you gave it to her anyway!"

"Ugh, stop being a party pooper, Alice. You know, you're starting to sound annoying."

"WHAT?!" She said annoyed.

"oops..."

"Outside, on the couch, now!"

She pushed him out.

"What? I'm sorry, I didn't mean that! Honey!"

And the door was slammed into his face.

And locked too.

"Ugh!" He groaned.

He heard children giggling beside him.

"Here's some blankets so you can get comfy!" Mirae Shouted.

Mirae threw him some blankets and Jihyun tossed him a pillow.

"What?! I do everything for you two!"

"I know, but it's fun to side with mom sometimes." Jihyun responded and they went to their rooms and shut the door.

It took him a second to process what happened.

"ARGHHHHH!"

Oh Namjoon, welcome to the real world of being a family man.
