Chapter 45

Daehwi's POV

It's him. It's really him. After Jinyoung left, I was about to fall on my knees. Luckily, Minhyun hyung was there to pick me up. He hugged me tight and kept on comforting me.

"H-hyung... he's here. It's really him" I told him while crying

"It's okay Daehwi, just cry it all out. I'm here for you, okay?"

"What should I do, hyung? It hurts. It really hurts."

"You should do what your heart tells you to do."

"I thought I'm okay. I thought that I can move on in an instant. It still hurts. His girlfriend even called him and he chose her over me."

"I think you should go talk with him Daehwi. But if you're not yet ready, don't do it."

"Should I end things up?"

"Do you want things between the two of you to end?"

"I want to end things with him. For him, for my aunt and for myself. I've had enough of her mother. I don't want anything connected with him and his family."

"Think about it first Daehwi. I don't want you to regret all of these in the near future."

"I've been thinking a lot since I got here in Jeju. And staying away from him would make everything better."

"Remember that I'm always here for you, okay?"

"But I have one problem, hyung"

"What is it?"

"My aunt, who's the only person left as my family, is still working with on of my friend's family. His family is really close with Jinyoung's family. I want to bring her here. Jinyoung's mom told me that she'll fire my aunt if I meet Jinyoung"

"I'll bring her here. Don't worry"

"B-but.. it will cost a lot"

"Daehwi, I'm an owner of a high-end café, not that I'm boasting or something. Money wouldn't be a problem. Besides, I already told you that I'm always here for you."

"Don't worry. I'll pay for it when I saved some money. Thank you, hyung!"

"You don't really have to. Just stay by my side, and evrything is okay. Your aunt can work at the café too if wants to."

"Really? That would be great." A smile was formed on my lips

"Stop crying now, okay? Let's head to the kitchen" he said while wiping my tears and forming my lips into a bigger smile.

"Thank you hyung." I gave him a big hug which he gave back too

"Wanna go grab some food first?"

"Uhmm. Yeah sure. Where?"

"I don't know. You decide"

"What's the best food that you tasted here?"

"I know a great Galbi jjim place near here. Wanna try it?"

"Yes please!" I gave him a huge smile. I'm really thankful that I met Minhyun hyung here. It would be harder for me if I haven't met this hyung.

After a few minutes of walking, we arrived at the restaurant. Minhyun hyung told me that one of his favorite dishes is Beef-Rib Stew. I happy that I knew one more fact about hyung. I'll surely cook this for him someday.

After our orders arrived, Minhyun hyung quickly grabbed a piece of meat and offered it to me

"Say ahh"

I opened my mouth and let him feed me. It was a great dish.

"Wow! I didn't expect this to be this good. I thought you were just exaggerating, hyung."

"Hahahaha. I told you to trust me. I'll bring you to other restaurants and food parks next time."

"Really!? I can't wait. Hahaha"

"Hahaha. Let's finish this up and go back to the café."

After a few minutes, we finished all our food and decided to leave. Minhyun hyung treated me today.

"Uhmmm. Excuse me, miss?" Minhyun hyung called the waitress

"What can I do for you, sir?"

"Can you please take a picture of us?"

"Sure" Minhyun hyung gave her his phone and placed his arms around my shoulders

"Smile, Daehwi"

"Hahaha. Okay hyung"

"1...2...3...Cheese!"

"Thank you so much"

"No problem sir. I hope you enjoyed your meal."

As we arrived in the café, Minhyun hyung officially introduced me to the other staffs.

"So Daehwi, I want you to meet the other workers in this café."

"Okay, hyung. Thanks"

He called the two staffs for a quick meeting.

"This is Daehwi, he will work with us starting next week. He'll be working with me inside the kitchen but he can work with the both of you too when we're done with our tasks inside."

"Daehwi, this is Somi. She often stays in the counter and blends frappes, lattes and coffees. Uhm, Somi?"

"Yes?"

"If you have time today, can you teach Daehwi on how to manage the cash register?"

"Sure oppa. I'll be teaching him later. Nice to meet you Daehwi. I'm Minhyun oppa's cousin by he way. You don't have to get jealous."

"Ah,..uhhmm..j-jealous?" I stuttered

"I'm just kidding! I hope we get along well"

"I hope so too. Nice to meet you Somi"

"Stop making him uncomfortable Somi. Hahaha. Then this is Sanha. He does the cleaning of tables and serving most of the times but he also comes inside the kitchen at times to help me do the work."

"Nice to meet you Daehwi. We're actually neighbors. I've been seeing you these past few day. I live at the street next to the restaurant you're working at."

"Y-you know that I work there?"

"Well, yeah. We ate there last Friday night and I happen to see you."

"Oh! That's nice. It was nice to meet you Sanha."

"So, when will I train Daehwi in cleaning and serving, hyung?"

"Daehwi won't be doing that." Minhyun hyung grabbed me by my shoulders

"Yah! Hyung! That's unfair. You made me clean the comfort room when I was just training here."

"Hahahaha. I'm sorry for that but we won't need to do that anymore since I hired a new cleaner to do that. He'll be starting tomorrow tho so you will still clean it today."

"I-I can help him hyung." I told Minhyun hyung

"No! I'm just joking. Minhyun hyung needs more help inside the kitchen" Sanha said

"Oh! Okay if you say so. Just call me if ever you will need my help"

"That's nice of you Daehwi. I can sense that we could be bestfriends in the near future."

"Hahaha. That would be nice. You're kinda similar to my bestfriend back in Seoul."

"Really? What's his name? Is he handsome like me too?"

"He's Hyeongseop. And yeah, he's handsome like you, if you say so. HAHAHA"

"I really like you Daehwi! Nice catch oppa!" Somi said

"Yah! You can't like him!" Minhyun hyung shouted

"Why? I only like him as a friend. No need to shout you hopeless romatic guy. No need to get jealous."

Minhyun hyung felt embarrassed and everyone felt that.

"I...I'll be staying in the kitchen. Just go there if you need anything, okay?"

"Okay hyung. I'll talk with them for a few more minutes. Is it okay?"

"Uhmm...y-yeah sure" he went straight to the kitchen after that

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA" the three of us were laughing in unison.

"Did you see how red Minhyun hyung's cheeks are?" Sanha said

"Totally! It's the first time that I see Minhyun oppa like that." Somi answered

"He really like you Daehwi. Please don't hurt Minhyun hyung, okay? He's been through a lot before."

"B-but really, there's nothing between us" I told them

"Yet" Somi said

"HAHAHAHAHA" they laughed together.

"What happened? What was his problem before?" I got curious on what they told me

"I don't know if it's right for me to say this but I think you need to know this" Somi said

"I'll promise to take care of Minhyun hyung if you tell me."

"He's suffering depression. It's what they call "Smiling Depression" he may be smiling anf look happy on the outside but he;s suffering internally specially when he is alone. We atually live next to each other and before he met you, I've been constantly monitoring him."

"Why? What happened? And what do you mean before meeting me? Is he okay now?"

"There's this someone which he loved the most ever since he was I think in highschool who left due to a certain sickness. He just left Minhyun hyung without even talking to him personally. He just left a letter stating that he won't be sure whether he will be back and survive or just die on the place where his parents took him for treatment. Minhyun hyung doesn't know what to do after knowing that and he was just in his room for a few months. It was me and his mom who aked him if he wanted to get check by a psychologist and luckily, he aggreed to it. After consulting a psychiatrist, he was diagnosed with depression. The person who left him wants Minhyun hyung to be happy so he forced himslef to stay optimistic whenever he's with someone but once he goes back home, everything turns dark and dull once again."

"Thank you for sharing that to me Somi. It will help a lot"

"Please take care of him, okay?"

"I promise. I'll go check on him now. I get back to the two f you later, okay? Nice to meet you both again!"
