SHURI UDAKU - PRINCESS OF WAKANDA
July 12th, 2017, Wakanda
"This place is awesome!" Peter's holding the Webanator and looking around at the Wakandan courtyard. I've gotten so used to view that I haven't really appreciated it.
The beautiful and intricately designed castle is basked in gold as the sun beams down on many faces and animals. The green trees are lush, and the birds that nest inside them disrupt the quiet with serene songs. I take a deep breath of the sweet air. My home is truly a masterpiece in its own.
Giving Peter a smile, I turn towards him. "It really is," I nod. He beams back and keeps on fiddling with the gun.
"So, if I remember correctly, I just pull the trigger and it shoots out webbing?"
I nod some more. "Yep. It works just like your web shooters, but in gun form. The webbing should also be stronger." The planning that went into it was intensive—although, admittedly, it was a bit sleep-deprived.
"Woah," He whispers, reminding me of a little kid receiving Christmas presents. Peter aims the gun at a wall in the courtyard. "Can I?" He uses the Webanator to gesture. I almost laugh at the sight of Spider-Man holding a web-shooting gun. How'd my life end up here?
"Of course, but I'm coming with you." I walk over and lock our fingers together, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Web up our hands so I don't die, Spider-Man."
He gives me a smile, "I think that's the first time you've called me Spider-Man." I roll my eyes as he encases our wrists and fingers with the webbing from his suit. It feels like a sticky cotton—soft and entrapping at the same time. I could get used to this, I think with a small grin. I squeeze his hand from nervousness.
"I better not die today, Parker. My family is very powerful, so you wouldn't want to mess with us." His face lights up as he winks at me.
"Understood, princess." Peter webs up our hands a little more and squints as he aims the Webanator. He looks over his shoulder and meets my eye, a reassuring smirk on his expression. "Ready?"
I nod.
"Let's go, bug boy!" Beaming, he pulls the trigger, aiming it at a wall of the west wing tower. Instantly, strands of webbing harden and shoot out of the barrel, landing dead center right above a window.
He yells, "Up, up, and away!" Peter soars through the air and I'm screaming my head off as I follow suit. This is amazing. The view of Wakanda is wondrous, and the feeling of wind on my face and blowing through my hair is astounding. The experience is over all too soon. We're standing on the ledge of the glass pane, trying to catch our breath.
"That was phenomenal," I whisper, gazing down at the breathtaking views. Blood is still rushing to my head. "I felt like I was flying."
Peter rakes a hand through his messed up hair, causing me to chuckle. "Yeah, I do that about a hundred times every day; but it never loses its magic." We sit on the windowsill, enjoying the beautiful and calm quiet before he turns toward me with another grin. "Do you want to try?" He hands me the Webanator. I gently take it from his palm.
"Let's do this." I raise the gun, ready to aim it at a wall diagonally above us. My finger goes down on the trigger right when Peter shouts.
"Wait, something's wro—"
We go towards the wall. I don't understand what's off, that is, until the webbing breaks.
Peter and I fall.
Cliff-hanger, because I really am that kind of author. :)
New chapter coming after 3-4 days. Updates will soon become weekly because of school and my soccer team.
