Chapter Eight
This is actually happening. I walked to the arch slowly and yawned, my eyes half shut. I need sleep.

Who does this jerk think he is, making me get up even earlier than I have to for an extra lesson? This is ridiculous. Who cares about politics anyway? Or history? They're all dead anyway! Plus, when will I use any of this? Sure, I am supposedly the heir to the throne. And yeah, I should probably learn all there is to know about the kingdom I am going to rule. Okay, fine. I get their point.

"You are exactly 20 seconds late," Saxon informed me, looking down at his watch with a frown.

"Oh, I'm so sorry your highness. God forbid I be even a second late. It's not like I need sleep to survive or anything," I informed him, sarcasm oozing from every word I spoke.

"During our lessons you will listen to my every word and not talk back to me, princess," Saxon informed me sternly. He totally ruined it, though, when he began walking up and down the front of the arch like a sergeant.

"Sir, yes, sir," I saluted him, trying my best not to laugh.

Saxon sighed and sat on the hammock, patting the spot next to him. I did as I was told without complaint. "Normally we will meet in the library but I figured it would be easier if we started out here."

I shrugged. He's the teacher here. Wherever he thinks is best, goes. Then he dived right into the lesson. I tried really hard to keep up, I did. But there were so many big words and weird phrases, and I can't seem to get that nightmare out of my mind. Is that what my mind thought demons should look like? Is it some kind of weird mechanism to fight off the reality of these demons?

"Freya! Are you even listening to me," Saxon questioned a bit loudly, shaking me out of my own little world.

"Sorry," I muttered sheepishly. He sighed and held the bridge of his nose before starting from the beginning.

"Seeing as you do not even know how our species came to be, I figured we should start from there."

I nodded in conformation, waiting for him to continue. He did, right away.

"When god created man, Adam and Eve were not the first to be created. Adam and Lilith were. Adam was all for creating a new race of human beings and being the God of them all. He wanted Lilith to birth many children. But Lilith was hard headed and independent, she strived for greater things than just being Adam's plaything. So she searched and searched until she finally found what she was looking for, or, rather, who.

"A beautiful, unearthly male who came to her in the form of a snake one night. He lured her in with promises of something more and a future of greatness. She soon fell in love with him, something she clearly was not supposed to do. She snuck out at nights to see her love, doing whatever she could to hide it from Adam. But one night, he followed her."

I listened to Saxon's story, completely entranced. I was never a very religious person, in fact, I am not religious in the slightest. But the fact that Adam and Eve is not even really the true story, well, that's crazy.

"When he found out she had an affair, he was furious. He ran to God, explaining what Lilith had done. Of course, God already knew, but he had not realized how far it had gotten. God had no choice but to cast Lilith away, leaving her for dead, and creating Eve instead. Lilith was furious. With God, with Adam, with Eve. Lilith knew that she had fallen for the devil-literally-and could use this to her advantage. With Lucifer's help, Lilith cursed Eve so that her first child would be born with impure powers-creating the fae."

That's some deep revenge for someone who is close to someone as pure as God. But why do I feel like there is more to the story? I got my answer when Saxon continued.
