Chapter Twenty Eight
The next few days went by very slowly. Saxon was ignoring me, to punish me I'm assuming. Cameron followed me around everywhere I went, and my irritability was on fire. True to his word, I have had to work out every night without fail, and I've decided the only way out is death at this point."Are you okay," Saxon finally asked on the third day during princess training.
"Oh, so you're done ignoring me," I muttered, dragging my knees to my chest.
Saxon sighed and sat down beside me. "I'm not doing this to punish you."
"It sure seems like it," I grumbled.
"Freya, I don't think you realize how terrified I was when I went to your room and you weren't there. And when the girls told me what you did for them," he trailed off, taking a deep breath to calm himself. "I was only so mad because you absolutely terrified me. I've never been that scared before in my life. I didn't like the feeling."
I bit my lip and glanced at him out of the corner of my eye. "I'm so sorry Saxon."
Saxon nodded. "I know now that you didn't do it to be rebellious. You did it because you needed a break. And it's my fault that you needed one. I have been pushing you to hard. I kept telling the queen that you needed to be pushed to be ready for the Daemonium kingdom. But you don't. You are already right where you need to be for now. There is no need to push you as much as we have."
"Saxon-"
Saxon held up a hand. "Let me finish."
I nodded and motioned for him to go on.
"I realize, after the way Amilia said you handled that vampire, that you are becoming a very powerful heir. If anything, the only thing holding you back is me. If I would stop telling you how far behind you are, maybe you would start seeing your full potential," he paused, taking a moment to breathe and collect his thoughts. "I talked to the queen, and she agreed to a few changes. She still wants you to go to magic training every day, but is cutting your lessons with Sinclair to only once a week. And we are going back to our old work out schedule."
I grinned. "Thank you, Saxon."
Saxon grinned back. "You're welcome."
I leaned over and hugged him. He stiffened at first, but then slowly accepted the embrace. He smells of old spice. It's kind of nice. His embrace is warm, and makes me feel safe. Maybe there is a chance for us yet.

"You've never had cotton candy," I screeched, pausing in my tracks. Amilia and Selene ran into me, but I barely noticed.
Saxon laughed. "None of us have. We don't have cotton candy in the fae realm."
I shook my head and started walking again. "You're missing out. It's like flavored sugar."
Saxon scrunched up his nose. "That doesn't sound very good."
"Trust me, it is."
He shrugged as if to say whatever you say before leading us to his favorite bakery. He sat us at a table all the way in the back and called for a waiter. A petite girl came up to us, smiling broadly at Saxon.
"What can I get for you," she questioned, lowering her voice to almost a pur.
I cringed. She is trying way too hard. She's a pretty girl, she could probably get his attention if she didn't throw herself at him. Amilia grinned at me from across the table, probably taking the cringe as jealousy. I let her think what she wanted.
