Chapter Thirty One
"We're going to be okay, Freya," Liam sighed as I ran through what they need to do while I'm gone for the fifth time.

"I know," I bit my lip. "I just have to make sure you guys will be fed and properly housed."

Lily giggled. "We will. Selene and Amilia will take good care of us."

I nodded. Selene and Amilia promised me they would make dinner for the twins every night, and make sure they are allowed to sleep in my room. Everything is going to be fine.

I flopped onto the bed with a huff. I don't know what I'm expected to do while in that kingdom. Will I take lessons like here, or will I just sit cooped up in a bedroom for 6 months? It's such a waste of my time.

"You're so lucky," Lily sighed dreamily as she flopped down beside me.

I startled. "Why?"

Lily shrugged. "You get to leave here and take a break for 6 months. You get to see a whole other kingdom. It's going to be so much fun, Freya!"

I laughed. "You're so optimistic, Lily."

Liam snorted. "That's the understatement of the century."

"Shut up," Lily laughed, as she threw a pillow at her brother.

Liam ducked and caught the pillow, throwing it back at his sister. They went on like that for a few minutes as I watched and smiled, happy that they get to have carefree moments like these. Once they finished their little fight, Lily turned to me and grinned.

"Are you ready to start getting ready for your ball?"

I sighed. My mother insisted on throwing me a going away ball. I'm not exactly in the mood to celebrate me leaving to another realm for a whole 6 months. "I guess."

Lily grinned and clapped her hands, before shooing her brother out of the room. Once Liam was gone, she threw me into my vanity chair and began her attack. Like the council meeting, it took a lot longer for her to prepare me.

"Your going away party is the last time your people will see you for six months. We have to prove to them tonight that you're worth the wait," Lily explained.

She ended up deciding to throw my hair up into a bun, leaving small curled pieces out to frame my face. She kept my makeup light, only accenting my features. She said it was to make me approachable. There will be nothing mysterious or demon about my outfit tonight.

The dress she chose was beautiful. The color is a deep blood red that accents my skin perfectly. The top is all lace, dipping low in a v and covering my shoulders all the way to my wrists. The bottom poofs out at my waist, switching from the lace to a more sheer fabric. It swishes as I spin.

I stood in my floor length mirror and grinned at Lily. "You really work miracles. What am I going to do without you in the demon realm?"

Lily giggled and hugged me as best she could without damaging the dress. "You'll be fine. It's only 6 months."

I sighed. Why does everyone make 6 months seem so short? To me, that's a very long time. Though, I guess these 6 months flew by. A knock on my door disturbed me from my thoughts.

Lily skipped to the door and opened it, revealing Saxon. He looks amazing, as usual. His tux is a normal black one, with a tie the same color as my dress. I wonder if the queen asked for that to happen. I couldn't hide the necklace due to the low neckline, so I shoved it into my bra. It's snug enough that the chances of me losing it are pretty slim.

Saxon grinned and held out an arm for me to take. I did with no hesitation. "You look beautiful, as always."

"Thanks," I grinned, ignoring the faint blush taking over my features. "You look handsome as always."
