Picture of Rain in MM"Come here, Rain!" My mother yelled. I got out of my bed & began walking to her room. Once I got into her room the smell of smoke & vodka. She lit up the weed, rolling a blunt before taking a puff. I always said that I'd never ever smoke before, but from my surroundings I might end up just like my momma.
"Go get me some hot fries, and some Pepsi" She requested, the gas station was right around the corner. But we lived in the ghetto: I wouldn't let my child walk outside alone. Momma always been the lazy type. Always want me to do stuff for her. But that's not how it's suppose to be.
"I need some money" I say holding out my hand, she slaps a 20 dollar bill in my hand. "Get whatever you want, but I want my change" she says. I nod my head, I'm glad that she said that because I haven't eaten since yesterday evening and I'm starving.
"Be careful!" She yells, I roll my eyes.. I slip on some blue jeans, with my turquoise tank top & my FLIP FLOPS. I walk down the hall way towards the door before my step father stops me.
"Where you going?" He asks, this piss me off so damn much. I mean he's not my real father. He doesn't care about me at all, so why does he even bother to ask? He's so irrelevant I don't understand why my mother stays with him. He does so much, dealing with drugs. Cheating, abusing. I couldn't take it. "Gas station" I reply dryly, even though I don't like him I still have to respect him. I always get scared that he might whoop me someday, even though I know my mom wouldn't tolerate it I still have dreams about it. He didn't reply anything, so I just opened the door before he could really reply.
The warm summer evening hit my face like a breeze. I brushed my hair behind my ear. I began walking down the block. We ain't live on no "Quite" block. Everything on this block was loud, including the animals. I look both ways before running across the street to the gas station.
I walk into the gas station picking up every single thing my mother asked me to, I then double checked because I didn't want to have to walk all the way back. I picked up me some $2 hot fries, sour patches, 2 mountain dews, and 3 cookie & cream Hershey's.
I walked up to the cash register & The woman began ringing up my items "13.49" She says, I hand her the 20 she gives me the change & I began walking all the way home.
15 minutes later I make it to the house, I hear my mother & Monte (My stepfather) arguing. "We're gonna have to leave because you won't harm her!" She yelled, "Then leave. Don't come back" He growls right back. They've always argued about things like this it was nothing new. "Listen - I'm sorry, Chanel . I guess - I'm sorry, okay?" He says from the bedroom. Whatever they had been arguing about must've been serious: He never calls her by her government name.
I just rolled my eyes before taking my things to my room & closing the door. I sat down on my chair before opening up my laptop. This was really all I had close to a phone: Momma wouldn't be able to afford to pay the bill. So she got me this instead. And I was grateful too. If I didn't have this laptop, I'd be bored out of life. I really didn't do much but check twitter & watch DIY YouTube videos, the regular.
"Come here, Shay!" My mom called. Shay'lee was my middle name, she either called me Shay or Rain. One day she might wanna call me Rain, and the other Shay. I close my laptop & began walking down the hallway. "Yes ma?" I say flashing a fake smile, as of right now I didn't feel like being bothered by her at all.
"Where's my stuff?" She seemed so off, I could already tell she was stressed: Hell I'd be to if my man didn't have a job, putting everything on me. Expecting me to be the man of the relationship. "It's in the kitchen" I simply say as she nods her head, usually she'd make me go get it: but Whatever.
I make my way back to my room, and began changing into a pair of pajama shorts, and a lose t-shirt. I sat down & began writing, it's something I love to do.
