Let me tell you, getting an emergency Alert from Osiris is not my idea of fun. Hotel Valhalla was definitely accounted for, but everything else was not in our favor. I still hadn't heard from Artemis, and I was beginning to Worry, It wasn't like her to not contact her Hunters in over a month, but personally I knew that she had to be busy. Every god you could name was working as hard as they could to keep the rebels from reaching Olympus so I knew that was a good reason for her to stay out of touch. The only good news we had that Carter and Sadies father Osiris had asked for an audience, I knew this couldn't be good. If the god of divine law wants to meet with you it's never a good thing. We landed Griffin Frank on the deck of the Kane's personal Underworld cruising boat. The Egyptian Queen, now here we are sailing into the duat with a shapeshifter, an airsick magician, three children of Hades, and an axe headed Demon, Yay!
I stood at the bow resting my head on my shoulder, it had been a long day and I felt like I hadn't slept in three days, I was so stressed, but I knew I couldn't worry, heck! The world was going to end in two days and was still worried about Artemis, I was also scared for my mother Athena, I wondered if she was going to be handle this many monsters in one place even if the gods hit them with everything we had, the rebels had grenades and Assault rifles, I didn't know how magic was going to in any way was going to combat modern weaponry, even though I wanted to think positively, Olympus couldn't fall, it just couldn't. Carter walked up to me with a bowl of grapes "hungry?" He asked before popping one of them into his mouth, "I know your scared, I am too, this isn't the first time we've faced evil, and definitely won't be the last," I tried to respond but I was too engrossed in my own thoughts to really understand what Carter was trying to convey. "I could've saved them," I muttered, "I never wanted this, those were innocent people, that I couldn't save," Carter nodded to me he obviously understood what it meant to lose people. All demigods knew that happy endings were very rare, and usually it was the best people that didn't make it.
We docked on the edge of the tenth gate of the night and made our way into the palace of the gods. It felt really wrong to be in a place that was meant to be paradise, when the world was going to crumble in less than 48 hours. Walking into the throne room was like walking into death's library, no matter how many times you saw it, you still felt uneasy whenever you walk through it. "Hello Father," Carter greeted Osiris with a bow, before he introduced the rest of our party "Carter, I'm glad you could make it, I have a proposition for you," I nodded in anticipation, "As you may know the world is on it's last breath as we speak, all the other gods are exhausting  themselves trying to stop these monsters, as you can see I'm alone here," we all nodded in understanding. "While i am needed in battle, I need you to watch Ammit for me," We all looked at each other as if to say is he serious? "Father, their must be some mistake here," Carter said with genuine concern "he is not lord Kane," a voice said from behind us, that I a hundred percent knew wasn't there before. A young man stepped out of the shadows, and my first thought was great him again. He was skinny, but not too much, he had pale skin with sunken black eyes, but they were black like a black bird, as in black but in the right light they had hundreds of colors. He had short shaggy black hair, and was dressed in a three piece black and white tuxedo. Anubis, the Egyptian god of the dead and funerals, also Sadie Kane's boyfriend. "Hello Anubis," I said the young god cleared his throat "my father must take his side among the gods in the battle tomorrow, without him Ammit would be without company and trust me that is not a good thing," I immediately stepped toward him, looking very cross with the dog headed god. "Why can't you watch her?!" I demanded, "I will fight beside my family, as do all the gods, and I am aware you have a quest of your own, but please, leaving a crocodile headed devourer alone in the palace would be catastrophic," that definitely made sense. "Okay," I stated and bowed, "I would be honored to guard your pet, lord Osiris." I finished, and suddenly I started questioning my senses, the creature had been sitting there on Osiris's lap The. Entire. Time.
Ammit shot up from her nap and ran up to me, she started nibbling on my boot laces, "hey! Get off!" I shouted at the tiny creature. The so called monster was only about the size of a Pomeranian puppy, she had the back legs and tail of a gold lion, the front of a hippo, with a short lions mane, and the head of a crocodile. Once she got off my shoes she started snuffling all of us. Hazel and Frank were the most startled. "This is your untamed monster?" Nico said questionably "looks more like a pup in a Halloween costume," he bent over to let ammit sniff his hand, which I didn't have to be a daughter of Athena to tell you is a bad idea. I picked up the creature by the scruff of her neck and stuffed her in my bag, not the best idea but it was for the situation we were in, until I heard someone clear their throat behind me. Anubis approached us very formally "excuse me, miss Truax, may we speak privately?" I looked at my friends and we followed Anubis out of the courtroom, By the way if a god of death ever asks you to follow him, Don't!
"I am lead to believe that you are trying to defeat the rebels," he said formally "yeah doesn't everyone want that, I mean the alternative is Olympus being destroyed," on that happy note Frank turned into a huge gold eagle, no reason he just did. "And I support you a hundred percent, but you will never win with the Army you have, you need something more," I was suddenly ver y confused "which means what?" I asked "I have an idea, follow me," Anubis stated before melting into the shadows, We hopped on eagle Frank and ran after the god.
