III - The Étoile

Nancy's POV

It's Tuesday morning. The official first day of class. I got up early as I was so excited to meet my other classmates. I hope they are as friendly as JooE, Daisy and Ahin

JooE on the other hand was still sleeping like a log.

I woke her up so she could prepare.

"JooE, wake up! It's almost 7!"

She suddenly got up with her eyes so wide "What time is it?!"

I laughed "You never fail to make me laugh. It's almost 7. You have to get ready"

As JooE prepares, I continued brushing my hair.

Then..

I saw her face again in the mirror

Be careful next time, jagiya

Ah! Why do you keep haunting me? This isn't good. I should be concentrating on school stuff. Not on this

Stop thinking about her, Nancy. She might just be a dream

Or a ghost! Yes, a ghost! A beautiful ghost

No! You might have hit your head on something that you became delusional

Yes! That's it! She's not real

She's non-existing.

I must have been talking to myself for too long that I didn't notice JooE is ready to go out

"Nancy. Oi, Nancy!"

"Y-yes?"

"Let's go! Are you okay?"

"Yes! Sure, let's go"

I took my stuff and walked out of the room.

Outside were Daisy and Ahin waiting for us

"Hurry up, we'll be late for breakfast!" says Daisy who looks so cute with her hair on pigtails

Just when did I start admiring girls?!

"Breakfast?" I asked

"Yes, breakfast" A short haired girl who's obviously our senior approaches us.

"Hyebin unnie!" shouted JooE. She looks so excited to see her. I wonder who she is

"You must be the transferee" says the girl

"Nancy, this is Hyebin unnie. Our school president" says JooE as Hyebin extends her hand for a handshake

I was shocked. How the hell are they friends with the President?

"Yah! Nancy, take her hand, she doesn't bite" says JooE and the girls laughed

"Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to be rude. I was just surprised and honored at the same time to meet our president" I shook her hand while bowing

The girls laughed harder

"You're so cute. I wonder how you'll react once you meet our Etoile" says Hyebin unnie

"Etoile?" I'm confused. Is she someone higher than our President?

"Etoile is the one who gets the highest respect here at school" explains Daisy

"Yes, and she's the most loved individual. Always has been" a bitter smile drew on Hyebin's face as she says those words.

"Come on! We shouldn't let our Etoile wait" says Ahin.
