Old Friends

Natsu's POV
As I'm walking home from taking Y/N home I couldn't help but smile. She's so flustered and embarrassed about everything. I can tell she's not used to being around guys and even though I'm used to being around girls I still can't help but feel a little flustered myself around her.

When she put her fingers on my lips in the alley I felt myself blush but thankfully she didn't notice. Then when she was pressed against me and I was against the wall I felt my heart beating fast. She didn't even notice she was so close to me until I said something.

Then when she grabbed my hand I blushed again. She didn't want to hold my hand at school so I left it alone. When she didn't let go I couldn't resist intertwining my fingers with hers. When she looked at me with a red face I knew she felt something to but she won't accept it. So I said "It's ok. Friends can hold hands to." And she blushed and I unknowingly said out loud how cute she is when she blushes and when she hid her face in her hood to hide her blush I just wanted to squeal at how cute she was. Yes squeal because even guys can squeal at something cute and adorable. Don't judge me.

I just know she has up a big wall in her heart to protect her from being hurt. I am trying to take it down. I want her to accept me as a true friend like she did with levy but honestly, a part of me wants to be more than friends. I want to show her love but I'm also afraid she will get hurt. I'd never intentionally hurt her but the last thing I want is for her to let me in and we end up breaking up. What she said earlier about almost doing something stupid and going through with it if she's hurt again has me worried.

She didn't mean suicide right? Man I hope not. But it would make sense considering how hurt she was and if she's hurt again....

No. For her sake and mine I won't pursue her romantically. I will just continue how things have been going. I won't back down at being her friend.

Friend. Maybe I can help her get close to our friends again. She did say she used to hang out with us. I'll call them up.

I called everyone and after refreshing their memories they remembered her. It was honestly quite sad and a little heartbreaking. Some thought she moved while others just forgot about her. Then each and every one of them brought up how I treated her which hurt like hell. They all gave me their point of view. They all noticed how she looked at me and how she just wanted my attention. They all said it was obvious she had a crush on me. But they all feel that crush died a long time ago.

Damn it I was so blind! But how?! How could I not even see her?? I have no memory of her. THIS MAKES NO SENSE!

Wait. Wait one damned minute!

I make a call.

"Hey. Yeah it's me. Meet me at the park. Now!" I order them and they agree.

I head to the park and wait. I hear footsteps and look up.

"Hello Lisanna."

Your POV

The next day at school I see Natsu. He looks like he's looking for someone. He sees me and smiles and rushes me.

"I have something to tell you!" He says happily and grabs my hand. He pulls me to the field and stops.

"Ok. Ok. What is it?" I ask while trying to catch my breath. He was pulling me so fast I had to run to keep up.

"I was thinking last night about our past. I couldn't figure out why I never saw you before and why I couldn't remember you. Then something dawned on me. It was like a lightbulb came on in my head."

He starts talking and I can't help but smile at his excitement.

"So I made a call and met someone and made them talk. Don't worry I wasn't violent but I did have to intimidate them a bit to get them to confess." He tells me and now I'm really curious.

"Ok. Who was it and what did they say?" I ask wanting to know what's going on.

"My obsessed ex Lisanna. Who I broke up with not long before I met you in the gym when you were crying. Turns out she's very close friends with a witch and she put a spell on me."

I bust up laughing. "A witch?! Seriously?!" I fall on the grass laughing and he looks at me seriously and folds his arms.

"Yes seriously!" He snaps and I stop laughing. Geez pissed off Natsu is scary and oddly hot. Wait what?!

"Ok. Sorry. I just don't believe in that stuff." I state and he rolls his eyes.

"I know it sounds dumb but think about it. You've been around me all this time and I never even noticed you! I know your probably thought I was just being a asshole but I wasn't!" He yells at me then takes a deep breath and calms down when he sees me flinch at his hostility.

"Ok then what kind of spell?" I ask

"A spell to...actually I shouldn't say. Just know it was a spell."

"Natsu..." I start but the bells rings.

Natsu sighs "let's get to class. I'll see you at lunch." He turns and leaves.

"What kind of spell? And who is this Lisanna?" I ask myself out loud as I head to class.

Time skip

It's lunch time and I don't see Natsu anywhere. Oh well. He knows my spots. If he wants me he knows how to find me.

I wander over to the field to relax and think. I lay my stuff out and lay back. I love watching the clouds float along the sky. It's so relaxing.

"Hey!" I hear a familiar voice call. I look up to see Natsu running at me...along with other people. My happiness turned to discomfort.

"Hey..." I whisper out.

"Hey there! Long time no see." Lucy says and I nod.

"So how you been?" Gray asks

"Fine..." I say softly

"Love rival shall not speak to gray!" Juvia snaps

"Knock it off Juvia!" Gray yells at her and I hear her start to cry followed by him slapping his forehead. "Sorry Juvia. Just chill ok? She's not your love rival."

"Hey there kitten. You holding up ok?" I hear Gajeel ask

"Kitten?!" Everyone asks at once.

"Yeah. Look at her. Doesn't she remind you of a kitten? Small and sweet and cute but you know the kittens got claws. Plus don't you just want to cuddle her and make her purr....Natsu." He smirks and I blush and turn away.

"Aww look at natsu blush!" I hear Levy shout and Gajeel laughs his unusual laugh.

"If you guys are here to tease and poke fun then you can go. I'm not in the mood to be made fun of." I say flatly.

"Sorry kitten. I just wanted to lighten the mood." Gajeel scoffs.

I sigh. "So what brings you guys to me for the first time in months? Just now realized I was gone?"

Silence

"I figured. Look the past is in the past. Let's just move on. Ok? If it took you guys this long to notice I was gone then I'd rather not be friends again. And! If you did notice me gone before now but didn't bother to find me or contact me then I definitely don't want to be friends." I state sternly and seriously and run off. I made sure to grab my stuff so I didn't have to go back.

I heard nothing behind me. Not even a single breath.

I knew they didn't care.

I also know this was Natsu's idea.

Why Natsu? Why bring back my pain?
