Chapter 4

The next day came with new hopes and brought a new determination in Neil and Prakash who were ready to give their 100% for reforming Avni.

Avni woke up with pain in her head and she was amazed with her surroundings, it was unexpected for her but then she remembered all the previous day incidents and concluded that she was in Prakash's house. She was lost when Prakash came in her room with a mug of coffee.

Prakash - Good morning bacha. ( smiles ).

Avni - Good morning uncle. ( nervously ).

Prakash - You slept well.

Avni nods. He sits beside her.

Prakash- Here have this coffee, you will feel better.

Avni - Uncle I..

Prakash - No need to explain Avni. I understand. You go and freshen up and then come for breakfast. We will talk there. Okay.

She nods while he leaves from there.
After sometime she joins Prakash at dining table for breakfast.

Prakash - See Avni, I have prepared your all time favourite Poha for you. ( smiling ).

Avni - You remember my favourites uncle ? ( teary eyes ).

Prakash wipes her tears and places a soft kiss on her forehead.

Prakash - Is it even possible that I will forget the favourites of my daughter. Now no more tears Avni and start your breakfast.

Neil comes from behind and smiles seeing Avni and Prakash.

Neil - Good morning dad.

Prakash - Good morning beta.

Neil - Good morning Avni. ( smiles ).

Avni - Good morning. ( nervously ).

Prakash - I hope so that you remember him Avni. He's Neil, my son.

Avni - ACP Neil Khanna.

Neil - Yeah !! ( smiles ).

Avni - Why you released me ? ( innocently.)

Neil - First have your breakfast Avni, then we will talk about this. After breakfast, I want to have a word with you alone.

Avni nods and starts eating her breakfast. After their breakfast Avni and Prakash were sitting in Neil's room who was outside attending some important call.

Avni - What conversation he want to have with me uncle ? ( nervously ).

Prakash - He want to help you Avni, that's why he want to talk with you. You don't worry. You trust me ?

Avni - Yes.

Prakash - Then trust Neil as well. He will not hurt you in any way.

Neil enters and Prakash leaves from there. Neil sits on the couch opposite to Avni and notice her behaviour. She was tensed and nervous.

Neil - Avni, stay calm and please be relax. You need not to fear me I want to help you that's it.

Avni- I am just scared what if you put me in jail. ( innocently ).

Neil - ( smiles at her innocence ) If I wanted to put you in jail then I would have done that yesterday only. Just tell me one thing, whenever you fell ill you go to doctor right ?

Avni nods.

Neil - You have to tell about your disease to doctor so that he can treat you right ?

Avni nods.

Neil - You want to live a happy and normal life right ?

Avni nods.

Neil - For that you have to answer my questions so that I can help you in overcoming your demons so that you can live a happy life. Okay. ( He says softly. )

After talking to her he got an idea that still she is an innocent child who have faced alot of torture in her childhood and now she's afraid of trusting someone. He have to win her trust. He thought that's why he treated her in the most gentle manner as he want to finish her fear.

Neil - Okay !! So my first question is, How you managed to buy drugs ? I mean from where you get money for buying drugs that too daily ?

Avni stays silent, her eyes welled up with tears.

Neil- you used your father's money ?

Avni - No, I didn't.

Neil - Then how you buy drugs ? Answer me Avni.

Avni - You won't send me to jail right ? ( broken )

Neil- Never.

Avni- I ....I....I.... ( fumbled while her cheeks were covered with fresh warm tears. )

Neil goes towards her and sits beside her. He holds her hand gently and caress her hairs. She feels relaxed after a while.

Neil - You need not to be afraid of me Avni. Speak up. ( still holding her hand ).

Avni - I used to steal money for buying drugs and sometimes I... ( She burst into tears. )

Neil tightens the hold on her hand.

Neil - Relax. I will tell you a magic trick after that you will feel better.

Avni looks towards him with her teary eyes and red face, he swipes her tears and caress her cheeks gently.

Neil - Just do as I say, first close your eyes.

She close her eyes.

Neil - Now breathe in.

She did  as he said.

Neil - Now breathe out.

She breathe out.

Neil - Now repeat this for some more minutes.

She did and felt relax. She opens her eyes and found him holding her hand.

Neil - Now tell me Avni.

Avni - Some guys used to offer me drugs only if I fulfil their conditions.

Neil - Which conditions ?

Avni - They asked me to sleep with them and fulfil their physical desires. ( burst into tears. ) and I did that.

Neil close his eyes as he can't see her crying so bitterly. He was feeling like killing all those bastards who dared to take advantage of her vulnerable state. He engulfed her in a warm hug, caressing her hairs for making her feel good, after sometime she stopped crying and was feeling comfort in  his arms. He kept on caressing her hairs while she drifted into sleep after sometime.
