Keith walked through the doors of "Terrainia", inhaling the delightful smell of chocolate and ice cream filling the air as he made his way to the counter through the chattering, busy people. People who were happy. Unlike Keith. He pushed his way through a giggling couple, who death stared him as he shouldered his bag and walked behind the counter, placing his bag under the counter and sighing as he strapped on his apron, slouching in his chair behind the cash register as an old couple approached him. He sat upright, suddenly smiling a dazzling smile at them, because Keith tended to have a soft spot for the elderly.

"What can I get you today?" He smiles at them, and they grinned back.

The old lady piped up first, "One chocolate muffin please, and a carrot one for Jeremy." She smiled fondly at her husband who nodded in agreement, his mind clearly elsewhere.

"Coming right up!" Keith hopped off his chair and walked over to the display cabinet and pulled out the muffins, placing them in two paper bags with his handwritten messages and handed them to the couple, who had placed the money on the table.

"Have a great day!" Keith waved at the couple, who waved back as they exited the cafe.

Keith had a habit of writing sweet messages when he was bored on sticky notes and taping them onto the bags of the customers. It was just a little thank you to them for visiting. Keith enjoyed passing time by doing this.

He pulled his red hair tie off his wrist and tied his bangs out of his face to make a man-bun on his head, which was soon ruffled by a passing Pidge.

She smirked and knuckled him in the head, "Pineapple head."

"Oy!" Keith mock-pouted, crossing his arms and glaring at Pidge, who was beaming cheerfully. "You're supposed to be working tonight, not now."

"Well," she strapped on her apron, which brandished the Terrainia logo, a cursive "T", written in blue and surrounded by a braid of flowers, "You know, I need the cash. Not doing too well."

Keith's expression softened, and he sat back in his chair, motioning to Pidge to take the one opposite, which she did. He rested his left elbow on the countertop and eyed Pidge with concern, who looked very sleep deprived. "What's up Pidgeon?"

"It's just hard right now. Attending university and all, so much work."

"I know. You'll get through it. You're a smart kid." Now it was Keith's turn to ruffle Pidge's hair, which made her giggle. An impatient cough sounded from the other side of the counter. Keith and Pidge turned to find a business like man, wearing sunglasses which hid his eyes. He had snow-white hair, and a scar across his cheek, making Keith touch his own scar.

"May I order after you two are done messing around?" He snaps at the pair. Keith motions for Pidge to go to the back, and she abides, glaring at the man as she did so.

Keith plastered on a smile, "What would you like, sir?"

"I would like to speak with your boss."

Keith froze. Oh shit.

Keith swallowed his saliva hard, only now noticing his throat, which felt raw and scratchy.

"I-ill get him for you.." Keith sprinted into the kitchen, pushing open the doors to find Pidge and Hunk working on today's special; Love Cookies.

"Keith? What's wrong-" Hunk didn't get to finish, because Keith had grabbed his arm and pulled him to the counter, where the man was standing, quite annoyed now.

"Is this your boss?" He seemed like he was about to laugh at Hunk, which made Keith ball up his fists and step forward, Hunk pushing him back.

"Yes," Hunk said politely, offering his hand, "I'm Hunk."

The man didn't accept the hand, making Hunk lower it, glowering at the man.

"I was wondering if you could offer a job to my nephew."

This was when Keith noticed the slender figure behind the man, and when he stepped out, Keith's jaw hit the floor.

God, he was hot.

The nephew had beautifully tanned skin, a close-cropped haircut, and extremely toned arm muscles, which were visible due to his blue tank top, which matched his eyes.

Keith met eyes with the stranger, his jaw still hanging open.

Hunk saw Keith's reaction and grinned, focusing his attention back to the businessman.

"We'd be happy to. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a break in between. See you there."

The man saluted Hunk, exiting the shop, his nephew lagging behind. Hunk suddenly remembered.

"Sir!" He called out, "What is your nephew's name?"

The man turned around, "It's Lance." He snapped, striding off.

Lance wandered behind, giving one last look at the handsome, dark-haired stranger at the counter, and gave him a quick wink before his uncle pulled him out of the shop.

Keith's face was flushed red. He had never been winked at before. He couldn't stop smiling. The people in the shop could notice it too.

"Emo boy is smiling, what a relief!"

"I knew he had a smile in there somewhere."

Keith, realizing people were staring at him, smiled shyly, and darted around back to the bathroom to wait for his face to cool down.

He was feeling things. He had never felt them before.
