Chapter One

Beep beep. Beep beep. Beep beep.

First day of school. Nice. Meet new people, teachers and yay! Have classes. How fun it is.

Thank God it's the last year of High School.

I sit on my bed, rubbing my eyes in an effort to get myself a little bit more awake.

"Thomas! Breakfast is ready!" I hear my mom shout from the kitchen, so I sleepily stand up, heading downstairs to put some food on my stomach.

I reach the kitchen and I rub my little brother Chuck's hair, making him glare at me with dreadful eyes.

I guess I'm not the only one who's not that excited to begin school again.

After I get prepared, I see that I still have around 20 minutes until the first period begins, so I text Newt and Minho to ask them if we can walk there together, which they reply with a yes.

At least not all things are bad when returning to school. I'll finally see my buddies again.

"Mom, I'm going now." I shout as I put my backpack on, and my mom comes rushing from the kitchen, stopping in front of me.

"Have a nice day of school, sweetie." She smiles, kissing my cheek.

"I'll try. Love you mom." I say, twisting the door's knob, opening it.

"Love you too, son." She says, before I close the door behind me.

Right when I turn around to look at the street, I see that Newt and Minho are already there waiting for me.

"Good morning, ya dumb shank!" Minho says as I walk towards them.

"Morning." And the three of us start walking to school, talking about random things.

"So, Tommy, what are you gonna do when you see Brenda over there?" Newt asks as we arrive, waiting in the hall for the bell to ring.

It might sound horrible, but I had totally forgotten that I was going to see Brenda today. I know we're together, but I can tell when someone's with me because of attention.

"I don't know. I guess I'll just-"

"Thomas!" I hear someone shout down the corridor, and I know exactly who it is. I mentally roll my eyes, turning around to face the person who's running towards me at full speed, obviously catching everyone's attention.

Before I can say anything, she crashes her lips to mines.

I'm suddenly taken aback by her action, even if I knew she would do this anyway. I kiss her back, wanting this to end as soon as possible.

Thankfully, Minho chimes in.

"Guys, get a room." He jokes, but I can tell by his tone that he's helping me get out of this situation.

We finally pull away, her arms still wrapped around my neck, with her still close to me.

I decide on this moment that I have to end things up with Brenda. Really soon.

The bell finally rings, and the dozens of students start walking towards their classes.

"Well, I gotta go. See you later." I tell Brenda, giving her a quick kiss on her cheek, turning away to walk to the class with Minho and Newt, since we have the same ones.

Once we're far away, I thank Minho.

"Thank you, Minho. I didn't really know what to do." I say, patting him in the shoulder.

"No problem, man. But you gotta solve things with her." He replies, turning a corner to reach the classroom.

"Yeah Tommy, you can't drag this forever." Newt affirms, stepping into the room. Fortunately, the teacher hasn't arrived yet.

"I know." I whisper, more to myself than them.
