Emma let out a sigh.

"Scott's not the only one who feels like they failed their family," she said.

"What do you mean?" Gordon asked.

"My family isn't just those I'm related to by blood. My friends are my family too."

Everyone waited.

"Chris Evens, Greoge Draken, and Moonlight Wilson. They were my closest friends. We fought side by side in almost everything."

Emma's eyes darkened as she gaced into the fire.

"One night, a monster attacked us. It took control of Greoge's body and made him kill Chris in front of me and Moonlight. It then made him torture us." Emma lifted her shirt to relveal a multitued of scars that criss crossed her skin.

"I got lucky. I freed myself but it was too late for Moonlight. Her mind was gone. I swore I'd hunt down the monster that had done this."

Tears started to roll down her cheeks.

"When I found Greoge, the monster had set a hellhound on him. I was too far away to help him as the beast clawed him. When it left, thinking he was dead, I raced to help him. But I was too late."

She looked at Scott and he stepped foreward, wrapping his arms around her.

"His last words were a thank you to me, for everything we had done together as friends."

Emma's throat closed as she started sobbing.

"He asked me to end it. The hellhound's claws would have made it a long and painful death. He begged me to let him die a hero. I stabbed him in his heart and closed his eyes as he died in my arms."

She turned and buried herself into Scott's chest, breathing in his scent as she cried for her fallen family.

"I failed them."
