Finally, the day of the ball arrived. Adrien was standing by the door in an elegant black suit, black shirt, and green tie. He had to stay next to Nathalie, who would present to him all the guests while commenting on each family.

- This is the Beaumont family and their daughter Aurora they own the Beaumont winery.

Adrien greeted the guests, analyzing and making mental notes about each girl. They were all trying to impress him of course, they all knew why they were there and they all wanted to be the chosen one.

...

He greeted many other families.

...

- Oh and here comes Monsieur Bourgeois and his daughter Chloe, you remember her; you used to be such good friends.

- Ah yes, hello Miss Chloe, delighted to see you again.

- Oh, dear Adrien, you have always been such a cutie, can you see what a beauty I've become. Not that I wasn't pretty before, but my daddy made sure I had everything I needed to take good care of myself. I have no doubt that you will choose me as your future wife, but I hope tonight, you won't be too harsh on the other poor girls, they never stood a chance. Ha-ha-ha.

- Oh, Chloe, you haven't changed at all.

He said with a fake smile.

Always as narcissistic, he thought. Does she always need to use that much makeup? I am definitely crossing her off the list, he told himself. I would go mad in a matter of weeks.

After Chloe continued inside, a few more families arrived and Adrien made sure to keep in mind some of the girls. He was getting tired of all the fake smiles. How many more could there be? He was about to ask Nathalie if she could continue without him, but then he saw HER... She was wearing a magnificent red dress, bouffant without shoulders but they were covered by a dark blue silk hood as was her face. She had delicate black lace gloves on her hands and when she was going up the stairs he could see a pair of elegant black sandals.

- This is the Dupain-Chang family; they own multiple bakeries. She whispered, they are not as rich, but they made their own fortune with unique recipes, so your father decided to invite them as well, to be polite and look good. Back to her normal voice, and this is their daughter Miss Marinette Dupain-Chang.

As she took off her hood, he froze in surprise and all the mental notes he'd taken about other girls vanished from his mind. It was her, his Princess, the lady who stole his heart just a few weeks ago. What were the chances? How could he be so lucky? He pinched his hand behind his back to make sure it wasn't a dream. He quickly adjusted his tired posture, a wave of energy rushing through him.

Adrien was about to make a flirty comment but he stopped. He had almost forgotten that she didn't know he was Chat Noir, to her he was only the stranger that bumped into her, almost making her fall at the market. He wasn't sure she even remembered him after the day she had and it was some time ago. This was his chance to impress her as himself and he wasn't about to waste a minute of it.

Maybe for once in his life things could go his way and he could be happy.

On her side, Marinette was just as amazed. The charming man she had collided with at the market was Adrien Agreste the son of one of the wealthiest man in this town and others.
