Chapter 15: Assemble the team

Adrien's pov

"This is bad... this is really bad!" he was cornered, nowhere else to go and this time there were too many guards. All he could think of was how Marinette will feel; she warned him not to go out tonight. There were too many guards around and he had no place to hide and change so he could getaway. 

Just when he was surrounded, and he thought all hope was lost... An arrow hit one of the guards, and another and another. While the rest of the assailants were looking for where the arrows were coming from, a green hooded person with a shield and a smaller sword jumped out from behind a building and started to block most of the attackers coming for Adrien. Suddenly, a second figure appeared... it was a woman dressed in red and black, face covered just like the first person and Chat Noir. She skillfully fought off the guards until most of them were down and they started to retreat.

When all the guards had run away and only the three heroes were left standing there in the middle of the street, a fourth person joined them from the top of a roof. Her disguise was brown and orange and had a hood lined with fox fur. She (because it was another woman) was carrying a bow and arrows on her back. "So that's where the arrows came from" thought Adrien.

The green hooded guy spoke first.

- Are you alright Chat Noir? Looks like we came just at the right time.

- Thank you but who are you? Wait, Ni... (he couldn't finish his sentence because he got caught off)

- Yes, my friend I couldn't let you struggle by yourself, call me Carapace. (he smiled and bowed)

- You can call me Rena Rouge. (said the girl with the bow)

- And I am Ladybug.

- Think we need to talk so let's meet up at my house... again. (said Adrien)

They all took a different route and made sure they weren't followed by taking many detours. When they were sure it was safe, they changed out of their disguises and went towards Adrien's house.

- Ok, so please tell me how this happened, because even though I am grateful that you got me out of that situation, you put your lives at risk, and I am not ok with that. (said Adrien)

- Well... (started Marinette)

__Flash back__

Marinette had just finished making the three costumes when Alya busted in the room followed by Nino. They both looked like they ran there in a hurry. Almost simultaneously they looked around the room searching for something or someone before they met Marinette's surprised gaze.

- What wrong did something happen? Are you all right? (asked Marinette concerned by their unexpected visit)

- Mari, please tell me Adrien didn't go out tonight! I heard that the Baron sent all his men in this area to scout and search for Chat Noir because he got a tip that he was often in this part of town! (Alya answered with concern)

Un uneasy feeling formed in Marinette's stomach, though she didn't know why.

- No, I told him to stay in tonight because it was too dangerous. I had a feeling it was one of those days. He is in the study, let me go get him. I have something to discuss with all of you.

When Marinette entered the study, she felt a cold chill ride op her spine. The window was open and there was no one in sight, Adrien's sword was missing from the wall and she knew that he wasn't anywhere else in the house because the study had only one door that opened into the room that she had been working in.

- He is not here... why would he leave without telling me?

- That's what I was afraid of... Apparently, they also set up a trap, they figured out that when people rang the distress bell he often showed up and to make sure he came they attacked and captured random citizens. He must have heard the bell and got out to help. (said Nino)

- Well now is as good of a time as any. I have a plan, but I need your help, both of you. (They both looked at her and nodded) How would you like to become heroes like Chat Noir?

- Whatever you had in mind we are in, (they both said)

- It was about time he got some actual backup. (continued Alya) But we are not as skilled as he is in sword fighting. I mean I know you are good Mari but not me and Nino.

- That's why we will all play different roles in the team. Nino, I heard you were good in close combat and at blocking so you will be our shield. Alya, I know you are very agile and an extremely talented marksman with a bow so you will be our diversion and long-distance attacker. I will have Adrien's back and he will have mine and I can help with the planning. No more going in blind, from now on we prepare beforehand to get an advantage.

- Let's do this! (exclaimed Nino) But we need costumes.

- I have them right here. Put them on.

__End of flash back__

- And then we came to help you (Marinette finished her story)

- First of all, I am sorry for leaving without telling you, Mari. Second, I'm guessing there's no way to convince all of you not to come help me in the future; is there?

- Nope (all three responded in unison)

- Lastly, what were Nino and Alya doing together? because it was definitely not a coincidence that they came to see you at the same time, Mari.
