This is a short chapter because he next part deserves to be in a chapter all of it's own.

Adrien's p.o.v. :

For the remaining days before the ball, he thought about sweet Marinette and if he would ever see her again. He would go to her house, from time to time after sunset, since he knew where she lived after dropping her off, and they would spend some time together on her balcony gazing at the stars before she went to bed.

He'd gotten quite attached to her and she didn't seem to mind his company. When he wasn't with her, he missed her dearly; he missed the comfortable feeling he had around her and the butterflies in his stomach every time she smiled at him.

He wondered if he could keep being Chat Noir to see her and help the people of the town. It was easy to get away and play the hero when his father or servants didn't really pay attention to him, but with a wife, it would be much harder to keep his secret. Would his wife accept him if he told her or would she turn him in, to the authorities?

He sure wished he could marry his princess, but he was too unlucky for that he believed. He was used to never getting what he wanted, the priority was always what his dad wanted for him.

Sometimes he thought about running away from home to be with her, but then what kind of life could he offer her? She deserved better than a runaway with no money. She deserved someone who could give her the world.

_____ _____ _____ (time skip)

One night when he was star gazing with Marinette she asked him:

- Chat, do I know you as a civilian?

At first, he was a little surprised by her question. Did she figure out who he was or did she want to find out? Or maybe she wanted to get to know his civilian self too.

- Why Princess are you trying to figure out my identity? Do you want me to show you who I am?

He secretly hoped she said yes.

- No, no, it's not that. I'm only asking because when we first met and you saved me from the Baron's guards, I had a feeling that I knew you, that I had already seen you somewhere. I just couldn't and still can't figure out where. Sorry if it was too personal.

Adrian was a little disappointed by her answer, he secretly wished she would be more interested in him, but at the same time, he doubted Marinette saw him the way he saw her; as more than a friend.

- Well, Princess, I can tell you that we have indeed met when I wasn't wearing the mask.
