The commotion was created by some soldiers who were dragging someone towards the center of the market. A look of fear spread across Marinette's face as she realized what was going to happen.

- Oh no, they must have caught Alya again! I'm sorry Sir I have to go.

She said, trying to hurry to where the screams came from. Adrien tried to follow her, wondering what she was so worried about.

- Wait! Who got who?

He asked while running.

- The Baron's guards got Alya, she's a friend of mine; she is only trying to help and inform the poor people. Who knows what they will do to her this time! I told her to be careful; that girl never learns.

With that she left him behind, running toward the crowd that was already gathering to see what will happen.

They sentenced her to multiple whippings for disturbing the peace and speaking ill of the Baron (something she didn't do). The Baron was there to watch, so the people were too frightened to protest against him since he was the most powerful man after the king, in their city.

Marinette wasn't afraid; well it was more likely that her desire to help others and in this case her friend was greater than her fear, but it had the same effect. She went straight through the crowd to the front line and said as loud as she could, almost screamed:

- Leave her alone! Everybody knows your accusations are false; you have no right to do this!

- Shut it, little lady... or you will be next.

The Baron answered with an icy glare and a smirk on his face. Alya was squirming trying to get free. Usually she would manage to get away with Marinette's help but her friend couldn't help her out of this one.

Two guards at the front blocked the blunette's way. As they were about to start punishing the girl, a man riding a black horse came out of nowhere.

He was known by the people of the town as The black cat or as most called him Chat Noir. No one knew who he was or where he came from but since the beginning of the year he had been terrifying the rich and greedy and was protecting the innocent and poor citizens, against the Baron and his men most of the time. There was a great price promised to whoever captured or killed him, but he was loved by the people; he was also extremely skilled with his sword and agile on his feet, so anyone who tried to challenge him barely made it out alive. They called him Chat Noir because he always wore a black leather suit, a hood with cat ears on his head and a mask of the same color so no one could identify him. He always had a bell attached to his suit at the base of his neck, which made him look even more like a cat. His hood continued down forming a cape, which would flutter in the wind as he left the scene of his fights on his horse.

- Did you just threaten this beautiful lady Baron; I sure hope I didn't hear you right. Chat said. Did you really think I would let you harm Miss Alya here, especially when it's based on false accusations? Just like the lovely lady said... He winked at Marinette whose checks got a little pinker. You have pawsitively no right to do this!

- This is none of your business Chat Noir; it is my job to make sure the law and order are held.

- OH but, you made it my business when you overstepped your role and started hurting innocent people.

With that said he jumped off his horse and started going through the guards like they had just learned how to sword fight. Not hurting them enough for it to be fatal, but enough to make them run or stay on the ground. After letting Alya free and making sure she got away, he went after the Baron. He was more skilled than his guards, having lots of practice after the numerous encounters with Chat Noir, and gave him quite the hard time.

Strikes on the left... and on the right, one sword hitting the other just in the right spot, forming a perfect X. After multiple flips, jumps, close dodges and quite a long battle, Chat finally got the upper hand. He jumped behind the Baron and with a swing of his sword, he drew a big C onto the man's back slightly making him bleed and fall on his knees. Quick as a cat he got on his horse and waved goodbye to all the acclaiming spectators. Out of nowhere he took out a white rose and handed it to Marinette.

- Purrincess, I admire your courage but be careful, next time you might get in trouble.

With that he rode off on his stallion, making the few guards that still tried to block his path, jump out of his way.

The Baron's face was filled with anger and he was trying hard not to think about the irritating stinging of his back, reminding him that he had lost once again to this man he hated so much. He jumped to his feet and screamed after Chat.

- You will pay for this Chat Noir! You might have gotten away this time but I will find you and I shall make you suffer! Do you hear me! ... Guards get that girl we will make an example of her. Whoever associates with him will pay dearly. You do not mess with The great Baron!

Quickly before the guards could reach her, Marinette made her way through the crowd and after turning a few corners; she got to her own horse, who was waiting patiently for her to come back from her errands. The young girl stormed off towards the forest.

The guards were still following her, a little further behind, on their own mounts. So when she got to a small clearing in the forest she quickly got off her horse. She couldn't lead them to her house and put her parents in danger, so she decided to fight them off. As long as they didn't know her name, her family was safe. Sending away her steed, she took out a sword she had hidden in her saddle.
