Ara found herself awake and alone, the sudden warmth that Taehyung had provided gone. Just a while ago, they had fallen asleep after watching more senseless movies. Taehyung took it in his own libtery to cuddle up to her with absolutely no shame. He had just been wrapped around her side with his head resting on her stomach, and now he was nowhere to be found.

If someone were to ask how Ara was taking the sudden confession and surprise cuddles, she wouldn't be able to answer.

One step at time, she reminded herself before sitting up.

It was quite dark and ominous, a blanket of shadows covering the walls and floor. A car passed by, the headlights making light dance from one side of the room to the other.

She shivered despite the apartment being warm.

Where was Taehyung?

Suddenly, as if one cue, a very familiar sound of the fridge opening broke the silence and Ara felt her nerves settle. She held in a laugh as she quietly and gently tossed off her blanket, feet hitting the floor.

The distance to the kitchen wasn't far. Like, at all. The apartment was small and cramped, designed to fit a certain amount of things, including people. A half wall half counter was the only thing that separated the kitchen from the living room, and Ara used it as a shield to hide herself.

Of course, it was Taehyung peeking in the fridge. She could see the fluff on the top of his hair, a light brown in the fridge's light casting. A slight hum could be heard, a sing-song tune of god knows what.

All Ara knew what to do was to sneak up behind him, his back turned to her, completely oblivious as he pushed around whatever was in the fridge.

"What are you doing?" Ara asked, her voices serious and deep.

His reaction was instantaneous. He jumped causing him to hit his head on the top of the fridge, knocking the light off from the fridge. Taehyung screamed loudly while this was happening, topped by a yelp from the pain, but he immediately turned around with wide eyes with panic.

When Ara saw recognition flicker across his face, she laughed loudly, not caring whether he heard her real laughter or not. It was too hilarious to see him in this state.

But this time, she was taken by surprised, barely registering Taehyung's hand on her lips, his face too close to hers. She couldn't really make out his face as there was no light what-so-ever, but she could feel his warmth up close.

"Shh," his voice was hoarse, "aren't your roommates asleep?"

Frozen, Ara took awhile to process what he said, distracted by their close proximity. She pulled his hand away, a giggle escaping her mouth.

"They aren't here."

"What?"

"My roommates left for vacation. They went to their families, or whatever. I can't remember," Ara laughed once more.

Taehyung apparently didn't find this funny, sighing, sending a breath of air on her lips. Ara reached her fingers to her lips in shock. He huffed again this time, no longer bent down to reach her face.

Ara tried to ignore that she missed how close he was.

"Why didn't you tell me that first?" she could hear his pout, "the entire time I was trying to be quiet."

She shrugged, forgetting that he couldn't see her in the dark, "What are you doing in my fridge anyways?"

He scoffed. "I'm hungry."

"You could've just woken me up and ordered some food."

"But you were sleeping," the tone in his voice sounded almost sad, and Ara felt sudden guilt. Maybe she shouldn't have fallen asleep without getting food first.

Ara sighed, "I'll go order some-"

Today would be the day she realized that her memory of the layout of the apartment was, in fact, solely dependent on vision. Instead of reaching the threshold of the kitchen, she slammed into Taehyung instead, hearing him grunt. Ara brought her hands up, confused, and felt his broad chest and arms move in front of her.

"Oops, sorry-"

Before she could back up and move, Taehyung's hand gripped her elbow, and could feel the strands of his hair on her face. He was looking directly at her face, proximity so close that personal space didn't exist in the moment.

Ara could feel her heart thudding in her chest, and began to wonder whether or not he could hear it. Whether or not he could've, he didn't say, but instead swooped in and-

attempted to land his lips on hers. But, alas, the dark was unforgiving, he instead kissed the corner of her mouth instead, his aim wrong.

There was a moment of awkward silence. They both began to laugh softly, Ara feeling her heart jolt slightly upon hearing his nervous and embarrassed laugh.

"It's like this," Ara felt bold, sort of in-the-moment type thing, and found herself cupping the sides of his face. She had to reach up and lean forwards, but managed to pull him down and successfully landing a kiss on his lips.

He startled for a moment, the grip on her elbows loosening. But her lips were warm and soft on his, a bit unconfident and hesitant, but he wanted to reassure her. Ara felt his hands slide up to the back of her neck, angling the kiss better.

This was their first official kiss, and it was in the dark, and Ara was glad it was. She was far to nervous for her vision to even work properly.
