"we should have just fucking eloped."
taeyong would give just about anything to have jaehyun with him. the stress of organizing eight loud people and himself is really getting to him. on one side, he's got taeil on the phone with jaehyun's mother who, in her excitement, completely forgot the location of the wedding. on the other side, chenle and jaemin bicker relentlessly.
"you tied it too fucking tight," chenle whines, tugging harshly on the fabric around his neck.
"not my fault you have a fat neck," jaemin retorts.
                              "you're a dick."
"well, you are what you eat," jaemin smirks.
chenle shoves the older, bumping him into taeyong, who glares at the two fiercely.
he's decided that him and jaehyun are never having children.
and he's back to missing his soon to be husband. jaehyun has always been the more relaxed of the two and having him near is more soothing than taeyong's meds. he's panicking, more than he should be.
he sits down on the ground, his back against the wall, and tries to refocus himself. he hears renjun dial a phone number and talk to that person quickly, keeping his eyes glued on taeyong, who closes his eyes.
the next thing he knows, a warm hand is placed on his shoulder and he turns to look at a concerned doyoung. "you okay, man?"
taeyong shakes his head, raising his left hand to reveal how shaky he is. doyoung pulls him up and into a warm hug, rubbing his back slowly. "what's wrong?"
"stressed," taeyong mumbles into doyoung's shoulder. as much as the two argue, taeyong will always be grateful to have doyoung around. the younger has been his best friend since they were children, he's seen taeyong in his worst moments, and he's learned how to calm him down when he's panicking. doyoung is always there for him and, although he's not jaehyun, he's still a comfort zone.
"you'll be with him soon. just a few hours of being around everyone and then you get to leave. then it's just the two of you, in your little world. but you have to calm down, okay?" doyoung says softly. "today's gonna be the best day of your life, i promise it'll be okay. just breathe."
                              ~
the moment he lays eyes on jaehyun, his nerves melt away and are replaced with a blissful calm.
jaehyun's light brow hair is styled to look neatly messy, strands hanging in front of his forehead. his cheeks are dusted in rosy pink; he is radiant. his full lips tilt up in a bright smile, showing off his heart racingly adorable dimples. the white of his shirt contrasts his tan skin perfectly, and the sparkle in his eyes as they look him up and down makes taeyong nervous, but in the best way possible.
and it's like he's falling in love all over again.
he has to consciously slow himself to meet the pace of the piano— otherwise he would be down the aisle by now. if it weren't for his mother's arm linked in his, her fingers gently tapping along to the beat, he'd think this is a dream.
finally, he's holding jaehyun's hand and everything feels right. everything they've gone through has led up to this moment, like the final puzzle piece is falling into place.
this is where he's meant to be, he realizes. with jaehyun he is good, he is okay and he can breathe, jaehyun saves him everyday. and taeyong knows he'll be there to do so for the rest of their forever. he has the most important people in his world here with him. the love of his life and his best friends, all sixteen of them.
he catches jaemin, at the end of jaehyun's line, glancing and jeno. taeyong smiles softly before turning to the priest.
the wrinkled but smiley woman recites her lines, the same ones that are used in every wedding. it's a bit of a blur if he's honest because before he knows it, him and jaehyun are turning towards each other.
