The Range Rover's window wipers were doing a poor job of allowing Reese to see as he drove. The day had been mostly uneventful, except for the twins causing disruption in the game shop. He drummed his fingers against the steering wheel to the low hum of the music and he took a left turn. His headlights fell over a silhouette standing next to an unmoving car. Sighing he brought down the passenger window so he could ask the person if everything was okay. The silhouette covered their torch with their jacket and brought it up so they could see inside the car. The torch's beam was bright enough for him to see the persons face.

She was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. She was the definition of perfect. Everything he had ever hoped for and more. And she was his.

Red lights snapped him out of his daze. It seemed like he had forgotten to press down the breaks and drifted forward. He slammed on his breaks, just before he rammed into the back of Nico's Audi. He looked into his wing mirror, to see Malcolm turning around the BMW and pulling up in front of his mate's car. Nico got out of his car and walked over to Reese, knocking on his window. Reese wound it down.

"Are you okay?" Nico asked, glancing over at Malcolm while he got the jump leads out of the BMW's boot and then at Reese's mate.

"She's my mate!" Reese said.

"Congratulations," Reese nodded and glanced in the wing mirror. He got out of his car just as she was thanking the boys. He moved forward just as she was about to get in the car, she noticed his movement and froze. He cursed under his breath when a police car rounded the corner and parked behind his mate's Ford Fiesta. An officer got out and started asking his mate questions. She just said everything was fine and got in her car. As she drove past him, Reese couldn't help but stare.

Turning off his headlights, he took the lead and started to follow her, the police car stayed parked, both of the police officers getting out of the car and lighting a cigarette. His phone rang and Nico's name popped up, connecting it to the car's speakers, Reese answered the phone.

"So what's the plan?" Nico asked.

"I honestly have no clue," Reese said, making sure to stay reasonably close to the Ford.

"That, my friend, is the best plan I have ever heard," Nico said, his words lined with sarcasm. Reese didn't say anything; he just kept his eyes on the road.

"Shoot!" Reese growled.

"What?" Nico asked worriedly.

"I took the wrong turn!" Reese cursed and looked for somewhere he could turn back.

"Okay, just stay calm, we'll find the car again, I promise," Nico reassured him, but Reese couldn't help it, he punched his steering wheel, activating the horn as he did so. "Calm," Nico sighed. "You focus on driving, I'll call Malcolm and explain," Nico mumbled, Reese nodded, even though he knew Nico couldn't see him. Once Nico had hung up he flicked the headlight back on. He knew nothing about the girl, he didn't know where she lived or worked, all he knew is what her car looked like. Nothing else.

About an hour and a bit later Reese stopped quickly, inspecting a Ford, which was parked outside a semi-detached house next to a slightly newer looking Golf. Excitement filled him when he recognised it as the one his mate had been driving. A light flickered from inside, undoubtedly from a television. He parked across from the house and watched in the rear view mirror just as the Audi and BMW pulled up behind him. He got out and watch as Nico, Malcolm and the twins got out the cars. They walked over to Reese.

"How are we going to get in?" Joshua asked, looking at the house.

"We knock," Reese said, nodding slowly.

"But she'll recognize us," Jacob pointed out. Reese thought for a minute.

"Malcolm, cut the power." Reese said finally.

"What?" Malcolm asked, frowning slightly.

"Cut the power," Reese said again, slowly. Muttering under his breath, Malcolm walked over to the house, staying low. Reese ran his tongue over his dry lips, an act of nervousness. If this didn't work then he would never be able to try again, his mate would probably be too scared to leave the house or answer the door and the police would almost certainly be on high alert.

"What happens if her parents are home?" Nico asked in a hushed tone.

"Then we just grab her and leave," Nico nodded. The lights went inside the house and one by one the street lamps died out. They made their way over to the house. As Reese neared the door he heard hushed voices coming from inside, to him, it sounded like two girls. He pounded his fist on the painted wooden door. He heard a slight growl from inside, not a very strong growl. Reese turned to the twins who nodded, understanding. He knocked again. Waited a few minutes and then knocked again. He looked to his right just as the curtain swung shut. A grin spread across his lips when the lock clicked. The door swung open a fraction to reveal his mate with another girl behind her and a little Dalmatian puppy.

"Mine," Nico growled softly from behind Reese. He nodded; he would congratulate his friend later. His mate's striking eyes widened a fraction at the sight of them. She went to slam the door but Reese snaked his foot in, stopping it from closing. Both of the girls ran into the house, heading for, what seemed like, the kitchen.

Reese jogged after them while Malcolm and Jacob stayed at the door and Joshua scooped up the puppy just as it went to run after the girls. Reese's mate fumbled with the lock to the back door before giving up and diving for the kitchen utensils. Reese caught her around the waist before she could grab anything even remotely dangerous. Nico's mate had tried to make a run for it but Nico had wrestled her onto the sofa, struggling to get the chloroform rag out of his pocket. Reese's mate thrashed and Reese accidentally loosened his grip, caught off guard. She saw her chance and took it, slamming her head back until it collided with Reese's chin and sprinting into the living room. He launched himself at her as she attempted to run, pinning her up against the dining table. He saw the pain in her eyes as her back made contact with the edge of the table. Her eyes flickered over to the sofa just as Nico picked up her limp friend, the side effects of the chloroform. She pushed herself up so she was lying back on the dining room table and then proceeded to try and get her legs up so she had power behind her kicks, but Reese didn't allow her to. He tried to get the chloroform rag out of his pocket, but it proved a challenge with a wriggling mate. He finally managed to drag it out, but at the sight of it his mate became more frantic. He clamped it over her mouth just as she was about to scream. Her eyes bulged in surprise. He smiled victoriously until he realized she wasn't breathing.

"You take your mate home and get the boys to pick up some of their clothes," Reese said to Nico, who nodded and carried his mate outside bridal style. This action seemed to arouse his mate, making her attempt to yank Reese's hand away from her mouth. "I'm not moving my hand Princess, and you'll have to breathe sooner or later, so make this easier for both of us and breathe." His mate glared at him before taking a few deep breaths. A few minutes later her eyes rolled back and she stopped struggling. He heaved her over his shoulder and walked outside. Joshua was standing by the BMW, grinning down at the puppy in his arms. "You're not keeping it," Reese said as he passed. He unlocked his Rover and gently laid his mate across the back seats. He shut the door and turned around to see Malcolm and Jacob come out of the house, each carrying a duffle bag.

The ride was long and uneventful. Dull music played a hypnotic rhythm, making Reese feel sleepier than he should. The car rumbled as it drove over the uneven terrain. He hissed when a hulking tree nearly took his wing mirror clean off. At last, he pulled up outside a huge, towering building in the middle of nowhere. He got his mate out of the back, placing her over his shoulder again and made his way inside the building, being as quiet as possible. A thousand steps later he was on the top floor opening his bedroom door, out of breath. He walked over to the king-size bed, gently placing his mate down. After a minute of appreciating her peacefulness, he pulled the covers over her. He quietly left the room, locking the door behind him. He walked down a flight of stairs, stopping on the next floor, just in time to see Nico come out of his room, also locking the door behind him.

"We did it," Nico said proudly in a monotone.

"Yes, we did."
