He watched from afar as Reese left the building, pulling his hood up in an attempt to act against the pouring rain. He trudged across the road as Reese slowly disappeared around the corner. He walked through the white doors to be met with the smell of coffee, which drifted from the nearby Costa. Resisting the urge to get his hands on a warm drink, he travelled through the hallways, his eyes scanning the silver numbers on each door. He finally came to a stop, turning to face the door. He gently rapped his knuckles against the wood before twisting the handle. The woman who lay in the hospital bed slowly raised her head. Her eyes studied him as he shut the door behind him. She gave him a slow nod and he dragged up a chair, sitting by her side.

"Two visitors in one day? Well I am popular, aren't I?" The woman said, sarcasm lining her voice. He raised his eyebrows, never letting his eyes stray from hers. "What do you want?" She asked her voice stern and cold.

"Am I not allowed to come and just visit you?" He said, a smirk playing on his lips. She gave him an all knowing look before opening her mouth.

"Of course you are, but the look in your eyes says you're not." She said, giving him a small shrug. He let out a low chuckle, shaking his head sadly.

"I saw Reese leaving," he said, watching her smile falter slightly.

"He wasn't causing any harm, he just had a few harmless questions, that's all," she said, her voice shaking ever so slightly.

"Anything concerning me?" He asked, keeping his voice steady.

"No, just Ashley."

"And how is she? Ash I mean."

"She's fine, a little overwhelmed at this current moment in time, but she's okay," the woman said.

"And her friend? Trinity, was it?"

"Oh she's her old, cheerful self," she said, a toothy grin instantly spreading on her lips.

"I remember watching them two play all day, every day. Ashley used to be quiet, that was until she was around Trinity, she would not shut up," he laughed. "What about this mate of hers, is he alright?"

"Reese? Well I've only met him twice, but he seems to really love Ash," he nodded, watching for any hint that he was lying.

"That's good, but I'm assuming Ashley is being her stubborn and reluctant self?" She just nodded.

"What about your love life?" She asked after a few minutes of silence.

"I'm a free man," he said, dramatically throwing his arms up in the air in victory.

"You're such a goon," the woman giggled. "That's what Ashley loved about you." He gave a lopsided smile a looked at his watch. "You haven't got to go have you?" She asked, worry lining her words.

"Not just yet," he said, giving her a warm smile.

They talked for what seems like hours, before he bid his goodbyes and left. As he neared the doors he got side tracked and somehow ended up in the Costa line, eagerly waiting for his coffee. A girl stumbled into his arms while he waited. He helped her regain her balance and gave her a small smile.

"I'm s...so sorry," she stuttered, her cheeks becoming rosy.

"It's okay, honestly, no harm done," he said, grabbing his coffee from the guy behind the counter and stepping aside. He left and walked out into the rain, holding his warm drink in his hands. He felt a tap on his shoulder and turned his head. The girl stood there, blushing furiously. At first he was confused, and then she realized the rain had stopped. "Thank you," he mumbled as she held the umbrella over his head.
