"I took you because you are mine," he said quietly, trying to fight the anger in his voice. Ashley just shook her head, grabbing her pile of clothes and walked into the bathroom, locking the door behind her. She sat her clothes on the radiator and then leaned up against the door, burying her face in her hands. After a few minutes in deep thought she moved away from the door and started undressing. "Feel free to take a shower," Reese said through the door. Ashley inspected the shower and checked the bathroom door was locked, before pulling off the rest of her clothes and stepping into the shower.
She let the warm water drench her hair before she ran her fingers through it, pulling out the knots and dry leaves. She applied a generous amount of shampoo to her hair and massaged it in, easing the pain from her headache. The hot water that ran down her leg, to her ankle, soothed that pain, loosening her muscles. Once she was washed she started encouraging herself to actually get out. Before she could change her mind once more, she turned the taps off and climbed out.
Ashley pulled on her clothes and patted her hair with the towel. She then picked up the pile of dirty clothes and left the steamy bathroom. She looked around, frowning, Reese was nowhere in sight. She unzipped her duffle bag and neatly placed the dirty clothes in the corner, zipping it back up. She rattled the bedroom door handle, growling when it didn't open. She sprawled out on the bed, huffing. Someone knocked on the door, but Ashley just stayed where she was, she couldn't open the door anyway. She turned her head when the lock clicked open. Grace popped her head in before coming in, closing the door behind her. Ashley sat up and smiled as Grace made her way over to her, Bingo curled up in her arms. The puppy started going mental at the sight of Ashley, jumping out of Grace's arms and slobbering all over Ashley's face.
"He's so adorable," Grace said, sitting next to Ashley. "I'm quite shocked Reese hasn't got rid of him," Ashley snapped her head around. "I'm sure he won't!" Grace said quickly, throwing her hands up in surrender. "Anyway," Grace started, while Ashley turned back to Bingo, rubbing his belly, "Reese sent me up to tell you that lunch is ready." Ashley raised an eyebrow. "Don't worry; it's only the twins, Malcolm, Nico, Reese, Trinity, me and you." Ashley sighed.
"You're not leaving without me, are you?" Ashley asked, Grace gave her a toothy grin and shook her head.
"And I will not stop pestering you until you eat," Grace added, talking rather proudly. Ashley sighed and got to her feet, cradling Bingo in her arms. "Brilliant," Grace said, also getting to her feet. They left the room, shutting the door behind them before making their way downstairs. Ashley walked into the kitchen to see Nico sitting next to Trinity, while she ate her sandwich. Malcolm and the twins were in deep conversation and Reese was cutting a sandwich in half. Joshua spun around as Ashley walked into the kitchen, grinning at Bingo. Ashley sighed, handing him the puppy.
"I haven't gotten chance to ask, but does he have a name?" Joshua asked, scratching under Bingo's chin.
"Bingo," Ashley said, giving him a warm smile. She turned around to see Reese watching her; he gave her a small grin before returning his attention to plating up the sandwich and clearing up the crumbs. She turned and began to walk over to Trinity, but Grace grabbed her arm and shoved her towards Reese. She stumbled forward, having to use the kitchen counter so she didn't fall. Reese turned to her, eyebrow raised, but Ashley just snapped her head around to glare at Grace, who just gave her a toothy grin. When she turned back around, mildly shocked at what she saw. Reese was holding the sandwich he had made, in front of him, as if he was offering it to her.
"Trinity told me that you didn't like butter," Ashley felt her stomach do a flip. He had actually taken the time to ask Trinity what she liked and disliked. Ashley gave him a wide and genuine smile, taking the plate out of his hands. His eyes seemed so soft and comforting, the complete opposite of what they had been a little over twenty minutes ago.
"Thank you," Ashley mumbled, she sat on a nearby stool and started eating her sandwich. Her empty pit of a stomach growled gratefully for every bite she took. She glanced over at Trinity to see her grinning widely at something Nico had said. Trinity looked at Ashley, her smile slowly disappearing at the look in Ashley's eyes. Ashley ate the rest of her sandwich and Reese took her plate, then she made her way out of the room, standing at the bottom of the stairs, in deep thought. Trinity walked out of the room, instantly walking over to her.
"Trin..." Ashley began, but Trinity just held up her hand.
"I know we can't stay, Ash," she mumbled.
"Thank you for understanding," Ashley muttered. "Got any ideas on how to get out of here?" Trinity shook her head.
"Are you planning to escape?" Grace asked, walking over to them. Ashley's eyes widened a fraction. "Look, hear me out, if you try to escape the boys will find you again and then they will keep you apart," Ashley looked at Trinity who was staring at, the apparently exceedingly interesting, floor. "Give them three days, if, by the third day you still, with all your hearts, want to go, I will drive you home, and make sure the boys never pester you again," Trinity looked up, turning to Ashley. She frowned at her friend and then turned to Grace.
"Okay," Trinity said, Ashley couldn't hide her shock.
"But, my mum..."
"Will just think you're staying around Trinity's," Grace said, if only she knew.
"What about our phones?" Ashley asked.
"Those I can't help you with, sorry," Grace wandered off, back into the kitchen. Ashley watched as Trinity followed her, giving her friend a sympathetic glance before she did so. Ashley felt like she was doing the wrong thing, but deep down she knew it was the right thing to do, she didn't even know why. She began to walk upstairs, but stopped and turned around when she heard footsteps coming her way. Reece came trotting up the stairs, stopping next to her.
"Thank you," he mumbled; rubbing the back of his neck, Ashley knitted her eyebrows together. "For giving us a chance," Ashley gave him a slow nod. She turned back around and continued to walk upstairs, giving herself a small smile. "What would you like for dinner?" Reece asked, jogging to catch up with her. Ashley gave him a little shrug. "C'mon, please talk to me."
"What do you want me to say?" Ashley snapped, stopping suddenly. "My mum is probably worried sick, I'm worried about her, I'm as tired as hell and my best friend is starting to become reluctant to ever leave this godforsaken place!" Her heart became tight when his face dropped. "There, I said something," Ashley said in a hushed tone, she walked up the stairs, aware of Reese following her. She walked into the room, being careful to not turn around when she closed the door. She curled up on the bed, lying on top of the duvet. She watched as the door handle turned, but then went back to its original position, the door never opening.
She felt terrible and she didn't even know why.
