Reese's stomach did a back flip at the sight of the empty room. He didn't know what to do. He felt Ashley tense beside him and heard her breathing become strained. Someone tapped him on the shoulder and he shot around to see a nurse giving them all a perplexed look.

"Can I help you?"She asked sweetly.

"Where's my mum?" Ashley asked her voice hoarse.

"Mrs West? She was just taken to the operation room for a kidney transplant. Reese heard Ashley give a little sigh of relief.

"How long will she be in there for?" She asked her voice still tense.

"About three hours," the nurse said, before walking away. Reese turned to look at everyone. Trinity was giving Ashley a reassuring smile, Nico looked lost for words, as did Rose and Grace. Ashley looked up at him, her teary eyes meeting his. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. Trinity stepped forward, wrapping her arms around her friend.

"Breathe," Reese heard her whisper to Ashley. Then it clicked, his mate was having a panic attack. He gave Ashley a sympathetic look as Trinity stepped back.

"Ash..." He started but Trinity sent him a warning look, he just shut his mouth. Everyone just stood there, the only sound being Ashley's deep breaths. "I guess all we can do now is wait," Reese said, breaking the silence. They all nodded and walked into the empty room. Rose, Grace and Nico sat on the only chairs, leaving the others to stand or sit on the floor. Trinity smiled at Nico and he allowed her to sit on his lap. Reese slid down and Ashley began to pace.

After twenty minutes of watching Ashley walk back and forth he had finally had enough. He got to his feet, placing a firm hand on her shoulder as she went to walk past him. She snapped her head to face him, glaring.

"She'll be fine," he said softly. Her features relaxed and tears filled her eyes. He was taken aback when she launched herself at him, wrapping her arms tightly around him and sobbing into his torso. He quickly snapped out of his shock and snaked his arms around her as she shook. Trinity gave him a surprised look, and he was pretty sure he had an idea as to why.

He sat on the cold marble floor, Ashley curled up against him chest. Both Grace and Trinity had fallen asleep, their mates continuously trying to stop them from breaking their necks. Ashley moved slightly, giving an audible huff, the only signal that she was still awake. The door opened and a nurse backed into the room, wheeling a hospital bed. Ashley jumped to her feet, nearly giving Reese a nose bleed in the process. Two more nurses came in, one pushing the other end of the bed and the other wheeling some machines.

Once the nurses left Reese took a proper look at the woman on the bed. She was pale, her eyes barely open. She was hooked up to at least five machines, but didn't look at all fazed by this. Her half closed eyes wandered over to the teary Ashley, who seemed hesitant to get too close.

"Ashley?" The woman asked her mouth hardly moving. Ashley nodded, wiping her tears away. "Oh god, I was so worried," the woman said, her eyes opening a little wide. "Come here baby," she smiled, opening her arms a little. Ashley cautiously made her way over, giving her mum a gentle hug. "And who's this?" She asked, looking straight at Reese.

"That's Reese," Ashley said, straightening up. She gave a soft chuckle when her mum wriggled her eyebrows at her.

"And these people?" She turned her head.

"Well, it's Trinity and some other friends."

"This is the most friends you ever had," Reese sniggered, earning a sharp look from Ashley. "Ash, are you okay?" Her mum asked, her weak voice turning serious.
