The plans which didn't become memories

You didn't get to hold his or her hand

it just didn't go  how you planned

with an unused cot and an untouched pram.

You didn't ever get to watch them grow,

the truth told so fast,

the recovery, so slow.

As quickly as a miracle comes, a miracle goes.

But I know, the twinkle in the star,

is you that glows.

Preparing for the future untold,

knowing everything will be okay,

as long as you've got them to hold.

tiny sized-shoes, tiny-jean dungarees,

dreaming about the first Christmas,

they'll never get to see,

thinking about the first present,

you would have put under the tree.

An all perfect picture, of watching the first steps they take,

excited,

to watch and support,

all the decisions they will make.

Oh,

how you can find so much happiness in one moment,

and it can so quickly change,

they say that time is a healer,

but with such deep wounds,

when the scar heals,

the skin will never repair the same.

But no journey,

no journey ever,

will come without pain.

You didn't get to sing them softly to sleep,

how can you be so in love with someone,

that you have never seen.

With an unused blanket,

all the unopened toys,

I didn't get to hear you laugh or cry,

and for the first time,

I looked forward to the noise.

When everything felt so certain,

truth is nobody knows,

how quickly a miracle comes,

and how quickly a miracle goes.

Don't let go,

everyone has a story to be told,

whether you fly,

young or old.
