The world is filled with noise
The world is so chaotic
from the moment you wake till the moment you sleep.
It all starts with your alarm,
Your alarm SCREAMS at you, waking you for the day ahead
We are all so guilty of pressing that snooze button.
I sat, and I pondered...
Why?
Because we are tired,
I knocked, and knocked at my own internal door
and answered my higher self
strange, how she was absolutely nothing like me.
The yearn to just shut your eyes for two more minutes is taboo,
JUST TWO MORE MINUTES
of silence
stillness
no responsibilities
no noise
But, of course! The alarm will always scream again,
The alarm screams,
the kettle boils,
everyone flutters around carelessly, impatiently,
rushing to leave the house in time.
THEN
the engine starts
the traffic roars
the doors open
the doors shut
the phones ring
the people talk
your back aches
you countdown till lunch
you countdown till home time
you countdown till dinner
you countdown till bed
we hurry to the gym,
the equipment smashes against the floor,
the pained moans echo,
and the noise continues
you countdown till dinner
you countdown till bed.
THEN,
the bath water runs,
the boiler groans as it warms,
the heating burns
the plates are taken out
the plates are washed
the plates are put away
ALL READY FOR TOMORROW.
and then
you lay there and you shut your eyes gently
and suddenly,
you hear nothing but your own tender breath
you hear nothing but the sweet-tempered beat of your heart.
The world is filled with noise,
the world is chaotic.
