You woke up with a small groan. You looked around and noticed that you were inside a bathroom. The man from before was filling up that bathtub. He turned around and looked at you with a hint of worry covering his features. Your body was still shivering. The man walked up to you and crouched. He seemed to examine you for a few seconds before pulling you into a tight embrace. Even though he was a complete stranger, you felt safe in his arms. His embrace was comforting, as if telling you it'd all be okay.
Your life has not always been the easiest. You have never known your parents. Your mother abandoned you on the streets when you were still young. The owner of the coffee shop you work at took you in when she found you sitting in a corner of a dark alley late at night. You had been living on the streets for little over a week by then. Not a single person noticed that you were alone and did not have a place to stay at, apart from the kind coffee shop owner. You are not the type of person that immediately starts to cry when something goes wrong. You hate crying in front of people, especially strangers. As a kid you were really quiet and you still were. You only speak when it is desperately needed. The owner of the coffee shop had offered you a place to stay for a while and let you work for her until you had enough money to get an apartment for yourself. After a few months of work, you had finally earned enough money to buy your own apartment. The kind woman also signed you up for school so you were able to continue your studies. You got bullied at school though. You got beaten up and people were cussing at you all the time. At the end of the first year you had ended up unconscious in various alleys and there were about 40 different ways people would use to refer to you in a negative way. You did not do much about it though. You just did not feel the need to fight back, so you just let it all happen.
You have always wanted to find your parents and finally have someone that truly cares about you. Someone that will comfort you after having a nightmare and someone who will cheer you up when you feel down.
Add those two things up and add a little bit of time, and you will end up at the moment of meeting this kind stranger on a cold and rainy night. You took a good look at the stranger and took your time to take in all of his features. It finally crossed you that he looked a creepy lot like you. Both of you had the same eye colour, the same hairline, your lips had the same shape to them and your nose shape was the same. Could he be? What if he actually is your father? Did you just actually find your father? Should you ask him? Will he throw me out if I do? All these thoughts running through your mind made you feel dizzy.
You were pulled right out of them as the man let go of you. You were quite taken aback by what he did next. He pulled the soaked shirt that you were still wearing off of you. You tried your best to protest, but you were just feeling way too weak to even talk at all. The man quickly noticed that you were trying to say something and noticed your expression. "I'm not going to do anything to you, I promise. I'm just taking your cold and wet clothes off. You have to warm up a bit and they aren't really going to help you." This reassured you a bit and you tried your best to relax. The man continued stripping you down to your underwear.
After doing that, he carefully picked you up and placed you in the bath tub, which was filled with warm water. You winced as it felt like the water was burning your skin. The man furrowed his brows and quietly apologized. For the first time in a while, you finally felt strong enough to answer. "I-it's alright. Thank you for earlier," you said with a small, hoarse voice. The man gave you a gentle smile. "No need to thank me," the man answered.~Steve Rogers POV~
I was glad the girl finally spoke. I looked a bit closer at her features. She looked similar to me, very similar. I felt my expression change. 'It can't be right? She cannot be my daughter. But what if she actually is? What do I do then? I can't just reject her. I wouldn't even want to.' I shook my head to clear it from all of those thoughts and decided to just forget about my suspicions for now."What's your name?" I asked, hoping to start a conversation. She looked up at me a bit. "My name's Y/n. I don't really know my last name, since I've never really known my parents. What's yours?" I noticed that her voice was starting to get stronger with every word she spoke. "I'm Steve, Steve Rogers." The girl looked a bit surprised. "Steve Rogers, like Steve Rogers aka Captain America?" 'Wow, am I really that popular?' I chuckle softly. "Yep, that's me."
~Reader POV~
Wow, you are actually talking to the real Captain America. You started feeling more at ease as the conversation continued. Steve was really nice and comforting helping you out whenever and wherever you needed it. He got you a towel and some dry clothes which consisted of a black hoodie and some shorts. They were both pretty big on you, but they were warm and comfortable. Once you were fully dressed, you went out into the bed room where Steve was waiting for you.
He was sitting on the bed and once he noticed you coming into the room, he smiled slightly. He looked quite serious. "Listen, I think we need to talk." He said. You nodded and sat down next to him. "I think we can both agree that we look pretty similar and I think that we could also agree that you're pretty much young enough to be my daughter. This might seem a bit straightforward, but would you mind to join me at SHIELD tomorrow to get a DNA test done?" He said before looking at you. 'Wow, that was indeed a bit straightforward, but I'm honestly wondering about the same thing.' You decided to nod and agree with the plan. "Great. Now, I think it would be a good idea for you to get some sleep in. Just follow me, I'll show you the guest bed room." He said before getting up and moving towards the door.
You got up as well and followed behind closely.
Once arrived there, you saw a big cozy bed with loads of pillows and blankets in front of you. You felt your sleep senses tingle as you could not help but smile at the thought of getting to sleep in such an amazing bed. Steve noticed your smile and chuckled a bit. "Glad you like it. Now hop on in, you look exhausted." He was right. You were absolutely exhausted. You got under the thick covers, making yourself comfortable bed that felt like you were lying on top of clouds. Steve tucked you in a bit before turning of the lights. "Good night." "Good night."
