It was a late Thursday evening. You just closed off the coffee shop you work for. You just started walking home when you suddenly felt a drop of water landing on your cheek. After the first, you felt another one. Many more followed. Rain, great. You swiftly pulled up the hood of your hoodie. The rain started falling faster and faster and in minutes, you were completely soaked. You kept walking as you started to get cold. It was already chilly outside, so being soaked by rain didn't really help.

The streets were empty apart from a couple with an umbrella and some taxis. You thought about picking up the pace for a minute and running home, but you decided not to. Your apartment was at least 5 more miles away from where you were. You always walk to work, because you love breathing in the fresh morning air as you slowly wake up. A few minutes of walking later and you were shaking from the cold as strands of your wet hair stuck to your face. Suddenly a car started to drive beside you. You were completely lost in thought and didn't pay much attention to it, think it was nothing special. One of the car's windows rolled down. "Ma'am, would you like a lift home? It's no weather for a lady to walk the streets alone, especially when it's this late at night and without carrying an umbrella." The voice quickly pulled you back into reality. You fixed your eyes on the car. A man was looking at you with raised eyebrows. You just put on your best fake smile, just thinking about escaping the cold and getting home. The man had blonde hair and blue eyes. He looked familiar, but you just couldn't put your finger on it. The man opened the car door and gestured for you to get in. You didn't hesitate and quickly got into the car and closed the door behind you. The man noticed how bad you were shaking and furrowed his brows. "How about you come home with me first? That way you can warm up a bit first. I think you might be suffering from hypothermia." You tried your best to focus on the words that were coming out of the man's mouth, but you didn't catch much. The only thing you could focus on was how cold you were. You just decided to go along with whatever the man had said and nodded. The man gazed worriedly at you. He was quite sure you were suffering from hypothermia by then and knew that you would need to warm up as soon as possible. He thought for a second before cuddling up to you and holding you tight in his arms. Even though you didn't know him, you didn't think twice before making yourself comfortable and cuddling into his coat. The man didn't seem to care much about the fact that you were completely soaked as he held you close. He quickly said something to the driver which you couldn't register. You slowly felt your eyelids starting to droop as you passed out against the kind stranger.

"Could you drive us home, please? Thank you," I said to the driver before looking down at the girl, seeing that she had passed out. I sighed. Why would she be walking the streets with that weather while only wearing a hoodie and some skinny jeans? She didn't even have an umbrella. While looking at her I noticed I really worried about her. The way she was sitting in my arms, all cold and wet, she looked so fragile. I held her just a bit tighter. Hopefully, she'd be okay.

It felt like forever until we finally arrived at my house. I thanked the driver and opened the car door before picking the girl up and taking her inside. I cradled her in my arms. She didn't even stir, which made me worry even more than before. I set her down on the couch. I furrowed my brows and laid my hand on her forehead. Cold. Ice cold, actually. I freaked out a bit as I quickly checked her pulse. It was there. I thanked God and quickly picked her back up. I took her upstairs and into the bathroom where I set her down before turning around and starting to run a hot bath. I heard a weak groan coming from behind me which let me know that she was awake. I turned around and looked at her for a second. She was still shaking. I walked up to her and crouched down to her level. She was obviously a lot younger than me, young enough to actually be my daughter. She shivered again, so I pulled her close to me, embracing her.

You woke up with a small groan. You looked around and noticed that you were inside a bathroom. The man from before was filling up that bathtub. He turned around and looked at you with a  hint of worry covering his features. Your body was still shivering. The man walked up to you and crouched. He seemed to examine you for a few seconds before pulling you into a tight embrace. Even though he was a complete stranger, you felt safe in his arms. His embrace was comforting as if telling you it'd all be okay.

A/N:
Hey everyone!
~
I just want to say that I am so sorry for not uploading for so long. As you can read in the chapter in this book called "short hiatus", my mom has had a bad car accident in April. I just want to update all of you for a bit.
My sister is doing fine now, she recovered quite quickly from her concussion.
My mom still is not doing very well though. She has improved a bit physically in the past months, but that is all. Mentally she is just in a bad place right now. She is struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD and a lot more. She is barely sleeping at all as well.
During the past 3 weekends, she has stayed over for a night, but that didn't go quite well.
My mom kept my dad awake during the night and at some point even started walking around the house, waking all of us up as well.
During the day, she doesn't really want to do anything apart from lying in bed and trying to sleep.
She has been saying things to my family and I that are quite insulting and that can hurt, but I can manage. I cannot blame it on her. The doctors have prescribed my mom some new meds that can hopefully help her to get better and help her sleep a lot better at night.
~
That is all I can say right now.
I am really sorry that this chapter isn't very long, but I hope to upload the next part of this imagine soon as I have already started writing it.
I do not really have a lot of time for myself at home currently which makes it hard to find much time to write. I really hope you all understand and forgive me for that.
~
I hope you all are doing well and taking care of yourself.
Remember I love you!
~
