I looked at the clock while the professor endlessly kept talking about cell membranes and DNA. Only five minutes left! "Mrs Mitchell! Pay attention!" I sighed and picked up my pen. I started taking notes again. I used my notebook for more than just boring notes about subjects at school. I used my notebook as a diary. I was doing some research on paranormal things. You know, ghosts, vampires, different dimensions etcetera. I never told anyone about it. They'd see me as a crazy woman. That's society these days. People don't do anything but criticize others. The criticize others' work, opinions, looks, thoughts and so on. People start judging you without knowing anything about you and suddenly you're a crazy woman and no one on campus even wants to talk to you anymore. That's how it works these days.
I was trying to find out if there was another dimension. A dimension where you go to after you die. With that I don't mean heaven or hell, that's pure nonsense. It's nonsense people were forced to believe just a few hundred years ago. People say ghosts don't exist, but when did anyone ever prove that that was true? Right. No one ever did. They tell themselves ghosts don't exist, so they don't look like they're scared. I don't really understand why you'd be afraid of ghosts. I mean, they're just people, right? They're just human. I mean, of course, they're dead people, but they're still human. They all used to live in a society like ours. Should we really block them out like we're better than them? Of course, there are damned spirits. They are the ghosts looking for revenge. They are the people that died in an inhumane way. Just think of the witch hunting back in the days. Hundreds and even thousands of people died. They were either 'purified' by fire or thrown into a lake with a weight bound to their legs.
I heard the familiar sound of the bell ringing, signalling the end of this lesson. I quickly packed my stuff and left the classroom. I was going to do something special today. I had found a possible passageway to another dimension. It might've be the dimension I was looking for. I made my way to my locker and packed the materials needed for the ritual I had to perform. Once I had the materials stuffed in my backpack I went outside. I found a dark alleyway. I started performing the ritual. The symbol I had painted on the floor started to light up which meant that the ritual had been performed successfully. According to plan, clouds started forming in the air and a storm was starting to form. The only thing I needed to do now was cross a street unsuccessfully. In other words, I had to get hit by a car or truck. I walked to the nearest busy road. I took a deep breath and ran onto the street. I looked to my right and saw the bright headlights of the speeding truck coming at me. It seemed like the time stopped just for a little moment. I didn't hear anything and I barely saw any movement. Everything was moving in slow-motion. About thirty seconds later everything went back to normal. The last thing I saw was a flash. The last thing I heard was just a bit... Freaky? I heard the voice of a little girl. "Come play with me, come to the light. I miss my friends. I'm so alone here."
