Chapter One: The Return of a Rose

Third Person POV Five years later

"Crap, crap, crap, crapcrapcrapcrap..." Ruby said running around her dorm, tearing it apart, "I hope Yang didn't get it, she'd kill me-"

"Why?" Weiss said poking her head into the room, Ruby screamed for a second, "um, why's the room a wreck?"

"Uh-uh-uh-, l, uh, lost something important," she admitted, "and I can't ask Yang or she'll kill me if she found out I was getting them."

"Why? Are getting drugs or something?" She said jokingly.

"No. Letters, I have to find it before anything else," Weiss looked shocked, she'd never seen Ruby this serious about something, "it's a black envelope with a rose on it."

Weiss walked over to her book shelf and pulled out the envelope, "Is this it? Because I moved it while I cleaned the room, though I thought I put it back."

Ruby snatched the envelope from her and put it under her bed mattress for safe keeping, and pulled Weiss into a hug, "Thank you so much!"

"Ruby.... air!" She struggled.

"Oh! Sorry." She let Weiss go when Yang poked her head in.

"Hey, Ozpin wants to see us." She said.

"Alright." Ruby said noticeably irritated.

They walked to the headmaster's office, ready to be briefed on the mission. The elevator doors opened to Ozpin's office.

"Ah, team RWBY, you've arrived," he said, "I have an assignment for you to under take."

Even though Ruby lost time to write her letter, she was none the less happy to go on a mission, "Whatever it is sir, we'll complete it."

"Good, I have no reason to doubt, now the assignment is extraction." He explained, "you're picking up promising new student."

"We'll have them back here in a snap."

"Oh, and two of you may know this person that you're recovering."

On that note the team ran to the Bullhead, ready to take on the mission.

(Time skip)

They arrived at the town, deciding to ask around about the huntsman in training.

"No. No huntsman here, though I did here that a boy your age went into the forest," a guard said, "if your looking for someone, that's got to be them."

"Alright team! Spread out, and search the forest." Ruby ordered, wanting to get this over with so she could write her letter.

They all went by themselves to hunt down this mysterious huntsman/woodsman.

Blake POV

I was walking through an area of the forest close to the path, when I heard the scream.

"Oh, God! Help! Somebody!" A voice yelled.

I ran as fast as I could, when I found the source. A faunus was being held down on the ground by a mysterious hooded figure with half his face covered with some sort of skull.

He held the man in the ground, holding a knife to his throat, a small screen hovered in front of the faunus's face.

"I-I don't know anything I swear!" He pled, "please! I have a fam-"

He was cut short be the figure slitting his throat, somewhere not lethal.

He turned to me, stood up and then pointed the holo screen towards me.
