Prologue Part 2: The Start Of It

Yang POV

"Now, why did you three go back to that house?" Dad said, looking angry, "and who's idea was it in the first place?"

I had to come up with something, I didn't know what he was going to do if I told him the truth, but I couldn't throw Y/N under the bus... No! Don't even think about it Yang, just take the punishment.

"It was your brother wasn't it?" He said brother as if it disgusted him.

All I had to do was nod and all of this was on him. But because of me he's in the hospital, but I can't take the blame, what would dad do to me?

I nodded, slightly. I thought it wouldn't be enough for him to notice, but it wasn't, and the guilt set in.

"I can't fucking believe that little," he looked around for a second, "first Summer, and then because of him, I almost lose my daughters."

I wanted to say it wasn't Y/N, but I couldn't, I just couldn't do it.

(Four days later)

Dad, Ruby, and I were watching TV on the couch. Uncle Qrow called and said that Y/N was let out early because he had healed extremely fast for some reason.

Ruby was more than excited to see her twin again. She had been moping around lately and when she heard the news she almost had a heart attack.

That's when Uncle Qrow walked in, followed by Y/N.

"Y/N!" Ruby launched at him, pulling him into a hug. He didn't say anything however. "why aren't you talking?"

"He can't anymore Ruby, something happened to him when the Beowolf got him." Uncle Qrow said. "Tai, I need to tell you something."

They walked into the kitchen, I ran over and hid behind the wall, listening to their conversation as my brother and sister ran upstairs.

"The damage to his vocal cords was permanent, he can't speak anymore. And when his wrist and hand were bitten off, the damage was too much as well, they had to amputate more of it, he has no forearm anymore, if you couldn't see, but like I told you, he healed at an exponential rate, I think we might have unlocked the kid's semblance." He told dad, who was shocked, and a little mad.

"I doubt it," dad told him, "he's had cuts before and they all healed just like Yang and Ruby's"

Qrow looked shocked that dad wasn't more happy or hopeful, "Tai, come on. It's your kid, and he might have just shown us his semblance, you should be happy!"

"When we know for sure, I'll be happy." He said coldly back to my uncle, "now, you should leave, the kid's need to sleep."

Qrow looked mildly upset at him, but left, dad said something under his breath when told Qrow to leave.

Y/N POV two years after incident

"How many times have I told you not to leave your fucking room?"

I couldn't say anything, and "dad" knew it. He had taken the scroll away from me so I couldn't say anything to uncle Qrow.

"Get the hell out of my sight!" He spat.

I walked up the stairs, my sister Ruby watching with horror, Yang didn't care, she never did. She knew dad beat me whenever I was in trouble, a she sometimes actively got me in trouble, she even rubbed it in my face sometimes.

I walked into the bedroom, I sat in the corner and began to cry. Uncle Qrow visited today, wasn't allowed out of the room on these days. Dad just gave the normal excuse, I was depressed about mom's death and I rarely left the bed.

A few hours passed and our uncle left, Ruby came into the room and hugged me, Zwei tried to help cheer me up as well.

"I'm sorry I didn't come sooner, dad told me I had to stay downstairs," she said to me crying.

I looked at her and smiles slightly, "You don't need to say sorry, you came after all." I wrote on an old note pad I had found.

Two years later

"If you make your sister cry again, next time will be worse! Go back to your damn room." He yelled, I walked back to my room, Yang had a smug look on her face. I glared at her.

"I can call dad again for giving me that look." she said.

"I should've let that wolf eat you." I thought angrily. And moved back to the corner of our room which I had gotten so comfortable sitting, to finish my note to Ruby and Uncle Qrow, hoping it wouldn't hurt her too much.

Ruby POV

We sat at the table, I knew what Y/N was doing, finishing that note tonight. We heard him walk around the room a little.

"He's packing, isn't he?" I had hoped he would stay a little longer but if he has to leave now, I had to help.

"Ruby, take this up to your brother, he does have to eat after all." He handed me a plate of food, and I walked upstairs, dad had been doing this for a while, when I got to the room I dropped the plate, and ran back to the table.

"Dad, Y/N Is gone! His stuff was gone and his window was open!" I said, crying, trying to hide them, it wasn't just to make it convincing, but I didn't want him to leave.

"Yang, come with me, we have to find him." Dad said, actual concern in his voice.

"I'll stay here in case he comes back." I said.

"Good idea, come on Yang!" They ran out of the house, while I ran upstairs to our room and threw myself into a hug with him.

"Thanks for your help Ruby." He "said", trying to hold tears back.

"You don't have to go, dad sounded concerned when I told him." I pleaded.

"I have to, I can't take it anymore. Here," he handed me a small metal rose, with rubys for petals, he showed me one with some black crystal for petals, "when we see each other again, I promise we will, these'll keep us in each other's minds. I promise I'll write to you," he handed me the note, "give this to uncle Qrow. I'm sorry but I have to go, I'll miss you."

"I'll miss you too, I love you." I said crying.

"I love you too." He said running out of the house as fast as he could, I cried knowing I probably won't see him for again.
