Weiss POV

It was a few days after the incident with Y/n and his father. I was worried about him. He slowly stopped talking to us, at least as much as a mute person can. He had started drawing again, but never really finished anything. Blake and I tried to help Ruby get him to go out with us but to no avail. Y/n and Yang were too uncomfortable to be around each other, even though they hugged on the Bullhead to Vale the day after the incident. He was growing more and more distant, almost putting a wall between us and him.

We sat in Ms. Goodwitch's class, Y/n not paying attention as per usual, drawing some sort of picture with two snakes, one looked as if dying. "Mr. Rose." Ms. Goodwitch said, getting hid attention. "You're next to fight." She turned to the class, "Would anyone like to challenge him?"

A boy with grey hair next to a girl with green hair raised his hand. "I would." He said, almost as if he hated Y/n.

Y/n grew scared a little. His eyes widened, but he got up and ran to go get his stuff. The grey haired kid stepped onto the stage. When Y/n returned, he extended his scythe, (how did those two hold those giant weapons?), and nervously readied his weapon.

Mercury, the grey haired kid, stared at him with killer intent. "You're going to pay for what you did." He spat.

Y/n's eyes widened even more than they already were. What did he do to make this kid so angry at him?

Mercury launched toward Y/n, attempting to drop kick him. Y/n block it but Mercury pushed off the shaft of his scythe, throwing him back. Y/n used the blade to slow himself down, when he stopped he block a flurry of strikes from Mercury. Y/n push Mercury back, and used his semblance. He was moving fast than before now, for some reason, striking at speeds we couldn't see, to the point where the blade looked like a silver ring as it spun.

Y/n was focusing his heavier strikes toward Mercury's legs, Mercury barely able to keep up. Y/n had a look of dead seriousness, as if he was fighting to the death. He scared us a little.

Y/n jumped backwards to rest, deactivating his semblance. Mercury took this time to rest, and spit out more insults at him. "You bastard! Fight me like a man! I thought you were supposed to be strong! But you killed her for nothing!"

Everyone was taken back by this. Y/n killed someone? Why? Y/n activated his screen, "I didn't kill her! She died at the hands of your boss! Why don't you believe me?! I loved her too!" Y/n knew Mercury? From where?

Mercury yelled in anger, shooting toward Y/n. He struck with lighting fast blows, Y/n was focusing even more now. His scythe started to glow. Mercury slightly slowed down, and Y/n took this moment to kick Mercury back.

Y/n activated his semblance, pulled the trigger on his weapon, and swung faster than light, as if he never moved. A wave of fire Dust flew at Mercury, sending him backwards. But before he could get up, Y/n moved so fast it looked as if he teleported, slicing at Mercury. The attack drained the last of Mercury's aura, and his legs, which we found to be prosthetic, were cut off. He was sent flying backwards, to the edge of the arena.

Y/n fell to the ground, using his weapon to hold himself up. He had a look of sadness, fear, and tiredness. He looked at us, tears were falling out of his eyes now. He collapsed, unconscious.

"Y/n!" Ruby yelled, hopping the railing and running to Y/n side. Blake, Yang and I followed suit, and ran to Ruby's side.

Ruby POV

I held Y/n in my arms. He was out cold. I tried to shake him awake, but he didn't even react to it. My eyes filled with tears. Had he just died?

"Team RWBY, bring him to the infirmary. Quickly." Ms. Goodwitch said worried. "I'll call Professor Ozpin."

Yang pulled Y/n onto her shoulder and ran out the door with us close behind. We ran through the halls, Blake was ahead telling people to get out of the way.

We eventually ran into the Infirmary. The staff took him from Yang and moved him to the emergency room.

A few minutes passed and Uncle Qrow ran through the door. "What happened?!" He asked, fear and worry filling his voice.

"He was fight some grey haired kid, but after he won, he just passed out." Yang explained.

Uncle Qrow had a worried look on his face. "Did anything else happen?"

We shook our heads. Our uncle's face filled with relief. Was he trying to hide something? Were both Qrow and Y/n trying to hide something about him?

"Uncle Qrow. What about his semblance?" I asked.

"Hmm?" He looked at me, "What about it?"

"What is it?"

"It's like your's Yang, but instead of more power and strength, he gets faster." He explained, "But it shouldn't be why he passed out like that, unless...."

"Unless what?" I asked, worried something was wrong with him.

Our Uncle looked at us, as if deciding to tell us something. "N-nothing. Don't worry about it, Oz will have him back on his feet in no time."

I looked at Yang worried. What did he not want to tell us? Was it that bad?

I started to cry a little. I shuffled out of the infirmary and slowly back to the dorm, where I cried into my pillow for the rest of the day.

Qrow POV

I sat on the bench just outside of the room Y/n was being kept in. A few minutes passed and Ozpin finally showed up.

He saw me stand up from where I was sitting and ran over to me. "How is he?" He asked, worried.

"He's still out." I said, for once not being entirely wasted. "But, he's recovering fast."

"Did they see his... you know." Oz hinted toward a dark secret we've been trying to keep.

"His real side? No. From what they told me, he was low on aura after a sparing match, and then just passed out."

"Good. Maybe the reason he went out was because he was hiding it." Ozpin suggested.

I just shrugged, and looked into the room. "At least the staff hasn't asked about him yet."

"Don't worry Qrow. I'll see to it that this is kept under wraps." Oz assured me, "But how are you going to hide this from Ruby? Or Yang, for that matter."

"I'm hoping the kid will eventually do it. If he tells them, he'll keep his trust in me at least."

"And if you have to?"

"Then I guess I'm tellin' 'em." I said, taking a swig from my flask.

"Are you going to stay till he wakes up?"

"Why wouldn't I? He's my kid at this point."

Oz just nodded and left to speak with the staff. I looked back at Y/n. "I wish we could tell her how much you've changed." I muttered under my breath, then taking another sip of my flask, sitting back down. "Maybe she'd have stopped this whole thing. And you'd have had a normal life." I smiled, "But I guess you wouldn't have become such a powerful huntsman."
