It was a good thing Kai immediately put Chiwon in Jana's room. With all the commotion, he would've woken up.
"I think he's not that mad at you. Or at least controlling himself." Aunty Jiwon said as she checked Yeonwoo's throat. "He didn't even pressed that hard."
"Let me put some eucalyptus cream on it, my father usually has one so it'll feel comfortable." When she opened his father's bag, "MOTHERFUCKER!!!"
Then Aunty Jiwon stormed out of the room.
"Congratulations! You're the dad!" I exclaimed trying to diffuse the tension but Yeonwoo's face was serious. He didn't even flinched.
"Why didn't you tell me? I asked you when we ate— when you gave birth." He asks.
"I told you it was you." I said.
"You also told me you were kidding."
"Your face is very reassuring, like you wanted to run away from me."
"I wouldn't do that." He was gnawing on his cheeks not looking at me.
"You have a girlfriend, I was looking for the right moment to tell Papa first. Then you got engaged and I knew I need to keep it a secret." I said. "I think it's better for us to talk about the future rather than the past."
"Let's get married." He said.
It started out as chuckle then I began to laugh. He has got to be kidding me. He just got left at the altar and now he wants to marry me.
Best joke ever!
I have laughed until there was tears in my eyes but when I looked at Yeonwoo, he was crying as well but not from laughter.
"You're serious?" I asked as I begin to be confused.
It took a while before Yeonwoo finally looked at me. "A simple no would have suffice. Just tell me how much you want and the schedule to visit him. Sorry for barging in like this. I should've talked to you first." He said and stood up.
"Yeonwoo, wait." I said holding his arm. He was trying to breathe but having a hard time doing so. "Let's talk. About us."
He sat back down and stared at the ceiling.
"I really thought you were joking." I said. "After all the things that happened, that's the last thing I expect from you." I said.
"Well you always expect the worst from me..." Yeonwoo said and shakes his head. "I can't do this right now."
"I waited for that, too. When will the time come that you're willing to discuss about us. It was always 'not right now'." I said.
"Because everytime you don't take me seriously, it kills me." Yeonwoo then took a box from his bag. "I'm supposed to give you that years ago. You should have it." He stood up. "Let's go."
I took the box and it looks familiar. It was the same ring box I saw at the motel during our last night together. I took the ring out and there was an engraving. My eighteenth birthday and No broken promises.
"Why didn't you give it to me?" I asked
"You can't wait. You accussed me of using you. Honestly that really hurt me— After all the things that I did. After all the times we shared. You treat me like I meant nothing." Yeonwoo started to wipe his tears. "I tried— I tried everytime— you don't know how much— to get out of that setup but— it was that or losing you, and I'll always choose to keep you."
